The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (#Samsung #GalaxyS6EdgePlus) is one of the most advanced smartphones available in the market today, however, many owners have been complaining about issues that prevent them from making calls, hearing the other person on the other line or the other way around and some errors that affect the very basic function of the phone.

In this post, I will address the error message “Not registered on network,” which often happens to GSM models. The first problem, however, is about the unit that prevents the callers from hearing the owner during calls. Is it a firmware problem or a hardware fault? Read on to learn more about the problem and its solution.

Here are the problems I tackled here…

People on the other line can’t hear the owner during calls

Problem: I cannot make phone calls. The people I’m talking to can’t hear me. Could be a network problem or the phone itself?

Answer: It could be a network problem, an issue with the phone itself or both. Actually, the only person who could answer your question is you since you’re the one who knows when and how this problem started.

If the phone was working fine before and the problem started just recently, then there must be something that could have triggered it. Things like updates, constant app crashes, system crashes, random reboots, etc. may lead to this problem. Assuming that this issue is firmware-related, you should try wiping the cache partition first and if that failed, perform the master reset.

Wipe Cache Partition

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key.
  3. When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  5. Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  6. Press the Power key to select.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Master Reset

  1. Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys together.
  3. When the device powers on and displays ‘Power on logo’, release all keys and the Android icon will appear on the screen.
  4. Wait until the Android Recovery Screen appears after about 30 seconds.
  5. Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option, ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and press the Power key to select it.
  6. Press the Vol Down button again until the option ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted and then press the Power key to select it.
  7. After the reset is complete, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and hit the Power key to restart the phone.

If the problem remained after the reset, it’s safe to assume it’s with the hardware of the phone specifically the microphone in the mouthpiece area. You need a technician to check on it.

Galaxy S6 Edge+ showing “Not registered on network” error

Problem: I purchased an international version of the S6 Edge+ and chose T-Mobile to be my carrier. I processed everything, called T-Mo a few times until the phone was ready. Got my SIM card and when I inserted it and tried making a call, there was an error that showed up and it says “Not registered on network.” I never encountered this error before so I’m quite confused especially that T-Mo said my service is already up and running. What should I do to fix this?

Suggestion: There are two possibilities here: the first one, your phone may still need to be provisioned so it can get services; second, the SIM card may be defective, damaged, and whatnot. My suggestion, call T-Mobile again and tell the rep that you’re getting the “Not registered on network” error. He or she knows what to do with it and I’m sorry, this issue is far beyond our reach.

Galaxy S6 Edge+ muted during calls

Problem: First of all, thank you for this very good service. Second, I am no techie so I’m afraid that if I changed something with my phone, I would just mess things up and not fix the problem, so please, help me with my problem. Every time I receive or even make a call, the volume is too low to the point that I couldn’t hear the person on the other end and vice versa. How can I adjust the volume for calls? I can’t see it in any of the options or menus. Help me. Thanks.

Solution:  Don’t worry too much about messing something up in your phone because you can’t. Besides, even if you’ve messed up all the settings, the phone would still turn on because as long as the firmware remains intact and not rooted, users like you can only mess things up so much. If the device doesn’t work the way it should, then reset it and everything will be back to default.

In your case, however, it’s just a matter of adjusting the call volume and here’s how you do it: whenever you’re in a call, the press the Volume Up or Down button to adjust the volume. That’s it!

Galaxy S6 Edge+ can’t make outgoing calls

Problem: I am unable to make outgoing calls. As soon as I make a call it goes straight to voicemail and the call ends.

Answer: Actually, the problem seems to be with the phone you’re calling; the phone number may need to be reactivated. I have been a tech support for a wireless company in the U.S. for a few years during my tenure, problems like this is very common. We had a tool that could reactivate the phone number in one click and that’s all we need to do.

Again, it’s not with your phone but the one you’re calling.

Person on the other end can’t hear unless speakerphone is turned on

Problem: When I make a phone call the person on the other end cant hear me until I put it on speaker. I’ve tried everything. Must be the microphone. Only had the phone for 2 months.

Answer: Exactly what I’m thinking. There have been a lot of reports coming from S6 Edge+ owners who experienced the same problem as yours. You know, to further confirm if the problem is with the microphone (mouthpiece area), try using a headset and place a call. If the person on the other end can hear you well, then it’s time to request a replacement or have the phone checked by a technician.
