How To Fix Destiny 2 Packet Loss and Lags On Steam

Packet loss is a big deal when it comes to gaming because it will always result in stuttering and lags. More often than not, the quality of your Internet connection has something to do with it. So basically, it’s not a serious problem and you might be able to fix it by doing just a couple of procedures. 

Apparently, you need to do something to make your game work perfectly again. So if you’re one of the Destiny 2 gamers that’s currently bugged by this issue, here are the things you need to do: 

Fix #1: Stop the game and restart your computer

The first solution that has been proven to fix a problem like this is to force stop the game and then refresh your computer’s memory by rebooting it. So take a little time doing these steps: 

1. Press the CTRL, ALT and Delete keys at the same time. 
2. Click Task manager. 
3. Look for Destiny 2, click on it and then click the End task button at the lower-left corner of the window. 
4. To restart your computer, click the Start button and then choose Power. 
5. Click Restart and wait until the reboot is finished. 

Once your PC becomes active and ready, launch Destiny 2 again and see if the problem is fixed. 

Fix #2: Check your Internet connection

If the first solution fails, your next option is to check if it’s a connection problem, because most of the time, packet losses are due to unstable or slow connection. It can also be due to an Internet connection with high ping. Doing a speed test will give you an idea, so follow these steps: 

1. To do so, log on to SpeedTest.net. 
2. Click Go and wait until the test is finished. 

Compare the results to your plan. If the Download and Upload speeds are way lower than what you’re supposed to be getting, then try rebooting your router or modem. You may also call your Internet Service Provider if the problem persists. 

Fix #3: Check the game’s server

After making sure that your Internet connection is stable and fast, the next thing you have to look into is the game server. If the servers are under maintenance or having some issues, then that might be the reason you’re having this problem. Here’s how you check them: 

1. Log on to DownDetector.com. 
2. Search for Destiny 2, and then check if there are a lot of reports in the last couple of hours. 

If it’s a server problem, you don’t have to do anything except m  wait because it will be fixed within an hour or two. However, if the servers don’t have problems, then move on to the next solution. 

Fix #4: Reinstall the game

If all else fails, then the issue is probably with the game. So the next thing you need to do is to remove Destiny 2 from your computer completely. After that, reinstall it and it should work perfectly after that. Here’s how it’s done: 

1. Launch the Steam client. 
2. Navigate to the Library tab and right-click on Destiny 2.
3. Hover over Manage, and click Uninstall.
4. Click Uninstall one more time to remove the game from your computer. 

Once the game is successfully uninstalled, restart your PC and then reinstall it. That should take care of the Destiny 2 packet loss and lags.
