Troubleshooting Galaxy A50 with ‘Camera keeps stopping’ error

Most of the time, this is just a minor issue that you may be able to fix by doing one or a couple of procedures. And with that being said, here’s what you need to do:

First solution: Force restart your phone

There are times when some minor glitches in the system or apps can cause this problem. If this is the first time you encountered this issue, then you may be able to fix it by simply doing the forced restart. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A50 logo shows on the screen.

Once your phone has successfully rebooted, launch the camera and see if the ‘Camera keeps stopping’ error still pops up. If it still does, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Clear the cache and data of the Camera app

The error basically means that the app itself has crashed. So, if the first procedure failed to fix the problem, the next thing you have to do is reset the app itself. A reset for apps means to clear their caches and data files. This procedure is pretty effective against this problem. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Camera.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear cache.
  7. Touch Clear data and then tap OK to confirm.

Once you’ve finished doing this and your phone still shows the ‘Camera keeps stopping’ error when you open the app, then move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Reset all settings of your phone

The next thing you have to do is to bring all the settings of your phone back to default values. This is to rule out the possibility that some settings caused inconsistencies and resulted to this problem. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and tap General management.
  4. Touch Reset.
  5. Tap Reset settings.
  6. Tap the Reset settings button.
  7. If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern.
  8. Finally, tap Reset.

After resetting all settings and the ‘Camera keeps stopping’ error still pops up, move on to the next solution.

Fourth solution: Wipe the cache partition

The camera app is pre-installed and if it acts up, the problem could be with the firmware. So, the next thing you have to do is delete the old cache so that a new one will be created. There are times when the system cache gets corrupted and when it happens, issues like this may occur. To delete the cache, you have to follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Galaxy A50 logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your Galaxy A50 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  6. Press Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Once the phone has rebooted successfully, try to see if the ‘Camera keeps stopping’ error still shows up. If it still does, move on to the next solution.

Fifth solution: Factory reset your phone

At this point, a reset will be necessary. All apps issues can be fixed with a reset but make sure to create a copy of your important files and data first as they will be deleted. After that, remove your google and samsung accounts so that you won’t be locked out after the reset. When ready, follow these steps to reset your phone:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
  3. When the Galaxy A50 logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your Galaxy A50 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
