Headed out to Lithuania? One of the things that you need to keep in mind before you go is how you're going to handle your SIM card -- after all, you want to make sure that you have data, talk, and text while traveling, but without paying the absurd roaming charges that carriers back home charge.
That's why you're going to want an international SIM card for traveling to Lithuania. Plug one of these into your smartphone, and you'll be able to use talk, text, and data freely, and without worrying about wracking up some insane charges. Not sure what to use for your trip the Lithuania? Follow along below, and we'll show you some of the absolute best available today.
Ah, our absolutely favorite SIM card for traveling internationally: the Orange Holiday SIM. This one is our favorite because the value for money is out of this world. Access to data, talk, and text is exponentially cheaper than what you'd find in the United States and most non-EU countries, bringing you 10GB of 4G LTE data, two hours of talk time, and 1,000 SMS messages.
The Orange Holiday SIM is only active for 14 days; however, when you're running low or you're nearing the expiration, topping off the SIM card can extend its life and bring you more data. Additionally, you can load up whenever needed.
UK Europe ThreeUK SIM Card
Not a big fan of Orange? Worry not! ThreeUK has a pretty impressive SIM card that's designed to compete with Orange. Just like what Orange is offering, you get data, text, and calling abilities. You actually get access to a whopping 12GB of data, 3000 minutes in talk time and 3000 messages. You can use it up as needed, and then refill whenever you'd like.
The downside? This SIM card can only be used with phones. Furthermore, it limits you quite significantly, not allowing you to do any video streaming, tethering, or use of the mobile hotspot.
Mobal Europe Plus SIM
Coming in second place, we're looking at the Mobal Europe Plus SIM. The Mobal SIM card is one of the more unique choices out there, not acting the same as the Orange Holiday SIM at all. In fact, it's a little on the pricier side of things, but still beats roaming charges for the most part. Talk and text rates are bundled together, and they actually charge you 30¢ per minute rates in all countries.
There's 1GB of data bundled inside as well, but you are charged for every 1GB used.
What's really strange, and what could end up being really expensive, is that this SIM card is attached to your credit or debit card. The plus is that you can use as much or as little as you'd like, but that your card is automatically billed for your usage.
Internet with legs Trio
ThreeUK has something that they're calling the Internet with Legs Trio. Designed for international travel, this one gives unlocked GSM phones a whole 3GB of data for on the go use while traveling through the EU. You're getting some wicked fast data speeds while traveling, but one of the things you won't have is talk or text abilities. That means calls and text messages will need to happen over Wi-Fi or over your data connection, which limits you to instant messenger style apps, such as WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.
ThreeUK designed this one with easy, no hassle setup -- there's no activation required, essentially acting as a plug and play SIM card. Setup is easy -- just set the SIM card in your phone, and you're ready to roll.
Keep in mind that this one is only used with unlocked GSM phones.
Keepgo Global Lifetime SIM Card
Coming up as last on our list, we're looking at the Keepgo Global Lifetime SIM Card. Sure, this might be last, but it's still such a better choice than paying for roaming charges back home. It's similar to how Mobal's SIM card works, with Keepgo only giving you 1GB of data that you can use, but it can be refilled as needed. There are no talk or text features, so you'll have to use your data for that over WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.
Keepgo designed their SIM card to work with unlocked GSM phones, so CDMA phones need not apply here.
As you can see, there are tons of excellent international and local SIM cards for traveling abroad. However, we think that you'll easily get the best experience out of the Orange Holiday SIM, which provides you with plenty of talk and text, as well as a significant amount of data on the cheap.
