Slovenia can be a fun European destination for vacationing. However, if you truly want to make that vacation stays stress-free, you'll want to make sure that you pick up an international SIM card. They're so much more affordable than normal roaming charges from your home carrier, and often provide you faster data speeds than roaming ever well.
That said, here are five of the best SIM cards that you can pick up for traveling to Slovenia:
Enter, the Orange Holiday SIM. This is our number one choice, simply because of how reliable Orange is, and how much they care about tourists to Europe. Orange with their Holiday SIM provides tourists with 4G LTE phone access in up to 30 popular Europoean destinations, Slovenia being one of those. You'll get fast, reliable data almost anywhere in Europe, but particularly around the larger cities.
Orange's Holiday SIM has a whole 10GB of data to use while in Slovenia, and on top of that there's also two hours of talk time, and then another 1,000 SMS messages to use in addition to your data. That's different from many international SIM cards, since many are headed the data-only way these days. In addition, Orange lets you top off your data as needed.
The card only lasts 14 days after activation, but you can call them up or go online to add more days if you decide to extend your stay.
UK Europe ThreeUK SIM Card
ThreeUK sits up in third place, and is actually the closest you're going to get to what Orange is offering. They give you 12GB of data, 3000 minutes in talk time and 3000 messages to use while in Slovenia. You actually have calling and text features here, so you don't have to rely on social platforms for your communication.
ThreeUK only allows you to use this with phones -- you can't insert it into tablets or any other Wi-Fi device. In addition, you can't stream video with this one either, nor use it in a mobile hotspot form. However, ThreeUK does allow you to top off on data as needed.
Mobal Europe Plus SIM
Mobal is another excellent performer for heading to Slovenia. Once you order the SIM card, they actually give you 1GB of data to use in Slovenia or another European country; however, once that's used up, you'll have to pay for each 1GB used. Prices are similar to here in the US, where data is $10 per gig. In addition, you'll have to pay for talk and text minutes as well, which are 30 cents per minute.
That said, this SIM card ends up being a little bit on the pricier side of things, and requires you to have your credit or debit card attached.
Internet with legs Trio
Next up, we have the Internet with legs Trio SIM card. This one is significantly more limited than the past choice from ThreeUK, as this one is exclusively data-only. That means you have to rely on your data for a lot of communication -- through platforms like Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp -- which means you're using more data.
It comes with just 3GB of data to use while in Slovenia, but can be topped off with more data whenever needed. Data still sits at 4G LTE speeds, which still keeps things moving quick.
Keepgo Global Lifetime SIM Card
Last, but certainly not least, we have Keepgo's own SIM card option. If you want fast 4G LTE speeds in Slovenia, this is a SIM card that you can rely on. It's most ideal for those that don't need a massive amount of data, charging you per gig used. However, you do get a free 1GB to use after your purchase. Use up that data, and then anything after is $10 per 1GB. Being a data-only SIM card, you'll have to rely on your data for communication more, since it doesn't support actual phone calls or text. Since you're relying on data more, you might want to consider more economic choices like Orange or ThreeUK.
As you can see, there are a lot of excellent international SIM cards for traveling abroad, even to countries like Slovenia. Orange Holiday SIM is probably your best bet here, being the most economical of choices. There's plenty of data inside, and it even has phone and text support.
