What to do with your OnePlus 6 with screen flickering problem

The following solutions may be able to help you bring your phone to its original state and performance. Try to see what works for you…

First solution: Reboot your phone

If you haven’t done so, then try rebooting your phone first especially if it’s the first time you noticed the screen is flickering. It’s because the problem could be just a result of a minor firmware or app-related problem. Try a normal reboot first and then continue using your phone while observing it closely to know if the flickering continues. If it does, then you should try the forced restart by pressing and holding the power key for 10 seconds or until the phone reboots. If the problem continues after this, then you should try the next procedure.

Second solution: Delete system cache

It’s possible that some of the caches got corrupted or have become obsolete. While these files are small and temporary, if they get corrupted and the system continue to use them, all sorts of problems may occur and that could be the case here. So, delete all the caches so that they will be replaced with new ones. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Power down the OnePlus 6.
  2. Wait until the device is completely off.
  3. Then press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time.
  4. Continue holding these two buttons during the initial OnePlus splash screen.
  5. When the OnePlus logo goes away, you can let go of these two buttons.
  6. And then wait until the OnePlus 6 boots into Recovery Mode.
  7. Tap on the language of your choice.
  8. Tap on the Wipe Data and Cache option.
  9. Tap on the Wipe Cache option.
  10. Tap the Yes option when asked to confirm.
  11. Wait for the OnePlus 6 to clear the cache partition.
  12. Then tap on the Reboot option to restart the OnePlus 6.

Continue observing your phone to know if the screen flickering issue continues and if so, then you should do the next procedure.

Third solution: Reset your OnePlus 6

This is your last resort and if the problem continues after this, then the problem could be with the hardware. You need to do this to rule out the possibility that it’s just a firmware issue. A reset can fix all sorts of software problems. Follow the steps below to reset your phone but make sure you make a backup of your files that are saved in your phone’s internal storage as they will be deleted.

  1. Go to the Main Menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Tap Backup and Reset.
