How To Fix OnePlus 6 Screen Flickers After Getting Wet
Problem: Friendly Greetings, I am hoping you can help me or give me good news. I have a OnePlus 6 with a screen problem. My phone accidentally spent an entire cycle in our washing machine whilst hiding in my jacket pocket. The screen won’t stay on, but flickers a yellowish green color when i tap the power button in quick succession. The touch sensitivity of the device still functions as i can feel the phone vibrate when i touch the screen. All the buttons also still seems to be functioning fine. I have tried booting it in safe mode, but with no success. Is there any advice you can give me? I would prefer to avoid replacing the screen as parts are very pricey
Solution: Although this phone has a dust, water, and splash resistance feature this is not an assurance that the phone will be protected from water damage as normal wear and tear will decrease the phone’s resistance over time. Since your phone got soaked in your washing machine then it’s likely that water has entered the device and is now causing this problem. You should follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem.
- Turn off the phone and remove its SIM card.
- Dry the phone exterior with a soft cloth.
- Use a vacuum cleaner to suck out any liquid from the phone ports.
- Place the phone in a bag of moisture absorbing substance for at least 48 hours ( uncooked rice or silica gel).
- Wipe the phone clean with a soft cloth
- Turn on the phone. If necessary try charging the phone first for at least 20 minutes before turning it on.
In case the problem still persists then this is most likely caused by a water damaged hardware component. The best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
