How to fix Galaxy A5 with Instagram app that keeps crashing

When an app crashes, two things may happen; either you get the error message that, in this case, says “Unfortunately, Instagram has stopped” or the app closes by itself after a few minutes of using it. Regardless of the symptom you’re getting, the problem is the same and here’s what you need to do about it:

Reboot your phone – this is the first thing you should do because maybe it’s just a result of a minor glitch in the system. Take a little time restarting your phone and after the reboot, open Instagram to confirm if the problem is fixed. If not, try doing the forced restart by pressing and holding the volume down and power keys at the same time for 10 seconds. Your device will reboot like it normally does but its memory is refreshed and all apps, services and core functions are reloaded. Verify once again if the issue is fixed and if still not, move on to the next solution.

Reset Instagram – when it comes to applications, a reset means clearing the cache and data. Doing this will bring the app back to its default settings and configuration. If the issue is limited to the app only, then this is enough to fix the problem. So, after resetting Instagram, open it to know if the app still crashes or if the error would still show up and if it still does, try the next solution.

Uninstall Messenger and reinstall it – after clearing the cache and data of the app and it continues to crash, it’s time to make sure you have the latest version of the app running on your phone but instead of updating it, it’s better to just uninstall it and then re-download it from the Play Store.

If necessary, you may have to reset your phone to give it a fresh start. You may have to set the device up again after the reset but I’m certain it will fix the problem.
