Troubleshooting Galaxy A30 with ‘Twitter keeps stopping’ error

Twitter is a subscription-based application and if there’s a widespread problem, the developer or the company behind it should be the one to resolve it and all you can do is wait it out. However, if only your phone has the problem, then you have to troubleshoot it. That said, here’s what you should do:

First solution: Force restart your phone first

It can be just a temporary problem that can be fixed by a simple forced reboot. This must be the very first thing that you need to do. The forced restart is a simulated battery removal that will refresh your phone’s memory as well as reload all its applications and services. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A30 logo shows on the screen.

Once the phone has finished rebooting, open the app and see if the ‘Twitter keeps stopping’ error still shows. If it does, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Clear the cache and data of Twitter

For minor app-related problems, clearing the cache and data is enough to fix them. What it does is reset the app back to its default settings and configuration. Don’t worry, none of your files and playlists will be deleted if you did this. However, you will have to log into your account again once the problem is fixed. Now, here’s how it’s done:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Twitter.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear cache.
  7. Touch Clear data and then tap OK to confirm.

If the error ‘Twitter keeps stopping’ still continues to show after this, then move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Uninstall Twitter and reinstall it

Another possibility that we have to look into is that the problem can be due to a compatibility issue. While updates are being rule out regularly and your phone may have been set to automatically download them, it’s still better to just uninstall Twitter from your phone to remove all its associations with the firmware and other apps. After which, try to reinstall the app to make sure you’re using the most recent version. Here’s how you do that:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Twitter.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
  7. Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall.
  8. Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.
  9. From the home screen, pull up the app drawer.
  10. Find and then tap Google Play Store.
  11. In the search field, key in ‘twitter’ and then hit search.
  12. Tap Twitter and then touch Install.
  13. Once the installation is complete, tap Open.

If the ‘Twitter keeps stopping’ still pops up even after this, then it’s time to troubleshoot the firmware. The app crashes may be just a result of a firmware problem.

Fourth solution: Backup your files and reset your phone

A master reset will be able to fix all app-related problems including this one. However, before you actually reset your phone, make sure to create a copy of your important files and data as they will be deleted. After the backup, remove your google account so that you won’t be locked out. When you’re ready, follow these steps to reset your phone:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
  3. When the Galaxy A30 logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your Galaxy A30 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
