Note 4 Text Message Shown In Wrong Order

Problem: My texts are out of sync when they display.  So if someone asks a question it might appear as if I am answering before they ask.

Solution: Several owners of Android devices who have experienced this same issue say that turning the automatic date and time update on resolves this issue. On your device you can do this by following the steps listed below.

  • Press Applications.
  • Press Settings.
  • Press Date and time.
  • Turn automatic date and time update on

If for some reason the issue still persists after setting the date and time of your phone to automatic then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When the phone vibrates, release the Power and Home key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key.
  • Continue holding the Volume Up key until the Android System Recovery menu displays and then release. This step may take several seconds.
  • Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

Note 4 Can’t Open Group Text Messages After Software Update

Problem: My phone updated and since that time, I can not open group text messages or send pictures or screenshots.  Also, I keep receiving pop up ads.  I have deleted all game apps in search of the culprit.  Can’t my phone just work the way it is supposed to? I want an android phone because I have the samsung watch and don’t want to give that up, but this is so frustrating.  Is there a better android phone (I have the Samsung Galaxy Note 4) that doesn’t have these problems?  I am so frustrated that I want to throw my phone out the window of a speeding car!

Solution: These issues may be caused by data from the old software version that has not been completely removed during the software update process. This old data causes a conflict with the new software version and may be the reason why your phone is acting this way.

To resolve this issue you need to try to wipe the cache partition of your phone first.

If the issue persists then you need to backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

  • Turn off the phone. If the phone will not turn off, remove and re-insert the battery.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When the phone vibrates, release the Power and Home key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up keys.
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device

Note 4 Lag In Text Messaging

Problem: I just got this Note 4 about a week ago. After everything installed I immediately noticed a problem with lagging during texting. I usually hold conversations via text and while texting the phone will freeze for 3 to 5 seconds and then the phone will “catch up” showing the words that I’ve typed two and sometimes three times. Is this a known issue and can this be fixed?

Solution: This issue may just be caused by some form of corrupt data in the messaging app itself. Try clearing the cache and data of your phone messaging app and see if this resolves the issue.

  • From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll to ‘APPLICATIONS,’ then tap Application manager.
  • Swipe to the All screen
  • Tap the desired application
  • Tap Clear data and then tap OK.
  • Tap Clear cache.

Note 4 Voice Microphone Not Working In Text Message

Problem: When doing a text message, the voice microphone does not type what is being said. It has always worked but now it doesn’t. Thanks Much. Ruth

Solution: In cases like this you should check that the S Voice and Google Search feature is enabled in your device.

You should also check if a third party app is causing this issue to occur by starting your phone in Safe Mode.

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down key.
  • Release the Power key when the Samsung logo appears but continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  • Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  • Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.

If the issue does not occur in this mode then it may be caused by an app you installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Note 4 Text Messages Limited to 47 Characters

Problem: My text messages are limited to 47 characters per message apparently including signature.

Solution: The first thing you need to check is if you aren’t using any special characters when sending a text message since this uses more characters. You should also check the input mode of your messaging app and make sure that it is set to automatic. To do this just open your messaging app then go to settings. Go to input mode then change it to automatic.
