S9 Will Not Ring When Receiving A Call

Problem: My phone will not ring when I get a call. It only notifies me when I get a message or have a voice mail. As I have continually searched my settings for an answer, if I do not get resolve, I will return this phone, I thought samsung was better than this

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the silent mode is not enabled.

  • Slide your finger downwards starting from the top of the screen.
  • Tap the sound mode icon to turn silent mode off.

Next, try checking the ring volume of the phone. If  it is too low then you won’t hear your phone ring when an incoming call arrives. To increase the ring volume just tap the volume up key of the phone.

In case the issue still persists then perform the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S9 Intermittently Not Making Calls After Battery Replacement

Problem: I started having issues with my phone after I had the battery replaced a few weeks ago.  I can’t place or receive calls intermittently, and the same goes for text messaging. When I had battery replaced I had to bring the phone back in because the back of the phone wasn’t sealed shut properly.  When I brought it back the guy told me he forgot to remove the wrapping on the battery and that’s why it wouldn’t close. So he removed wrapping and the phone sealed shut properly. That’s when I started have problems.  I contacted my carrier, Cricket, and spent countless hours on the phone with them to no avail, and was told my problem lies with the phone and not with my carrier. Can somebody please help me with my phone, I need it for work and I am losing money without it.

Solution: Try isolating the SIM card as a possible cause to this problem by inserting a new SIM card to your phone then checking if the issue still occurs. In case it does  then the next step is to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. To do this you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try checking first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S9 Voice Cannot Be Heard During Calls

Problem: Dear thedroidguy, I bought my phone brand new from ebay from Malaysia manufacture. After I update the firmware by normal phone updates, and after a month some issues appeared. first of all, all my VOIP connect apps drop my voice. it mean when I am talking with WhatsApp or telegram for the first couple of decent other side can hear me, then my voice drop and the next 10 decent again back and then drop. Also when I am talking by cellular connection on speaker my Mic doesn’t work. I did force stop Bixby voice. I did clear Cache/data for WhatsApp. I did Hard reset factory. but still I have same issue, but in safe mode I checked both microphone and also I record video with voice and microphone working well. but still On speaker cellular call the microphone dissent work and also VOIP calling.

Solution: If the problem still occurs after a factory reset then there’s a chance that the software update is causing the problem or this could already be caused by faulty hardware component. Try waiting for a new update and check if the issue still occurs. If it still does then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
