S9 Stuck In Padlock With Spinning Wheel After Software Update

Problem: My Samsung galaxy S9 notified me there was an update so I went ahead and updated. It did all the updating and restarted as usual, asking me to put my password in, which I did. After this, I see the opened padlock and the blue/green spinning wheel around it, which normally happens for a minute or two but it has not stopped spinning since I tried to restart after the update 9 hours ago! My phone will not turn off no matter what I try. It ran out of battery so I put it to charge and was able to turn it back on, I activated safe mode and put my password in again, however I have just got the spinning wheel once again. I have tried many things I have read online however nothing is working for me. Pretty annoying that a general Samsung update has caused me to have no phone so I am very keen to get it sorted asap. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Solution: If your phone has a microSD card installed then I suggest that you try removing this first then press and hold the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If the issue persists then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the device. Restart the phone then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S9 Screen Flashing White After Software Update

Problem: i just updated my galaxy s9 software yesterday and since then my folders are messed up or example in whatsapp i have to redownload all media send to me. but most alarming is that my screen flashes complete  white colour to white green since yesterday any help as samsung support told me i should take it in for reinstallation of software at samsung care which i’ll be charged for. thank you so much.

Solution: You can try performing a factory reset from the recovery mode then check if the issue still occurs. Take note that this will erase your phone data so if here is any way to backup your phone data before doing the reset then I suggest that you do it.

In case the above step fails to fix the problem then you should bring this to a service center and have it fixed.

S9 Not Getting Call Or Text Notifications

Problem: I have a galaxy S9 and on the last update I no longer have call or text notifications.  I stopped in the Verizon office & they didn’t know how to fix so they downloaded an app “Tech Coach” after spending time with them it was determined it was a Samsung update.  At the time I thought it was just the texts but I am not getting phone calls either. Have you heard anything about it? I was hoping you might be able to save others a lot of time if you knew about this and shared it.  I worked on my setting on & off a week before I found the problem. Now waiting for a fix. I hope this is true too.

Solution: It’s very unlikely that software update is preventing your phone from getting calls or text messages. The issue might just be caused by a software glitch which we will be checking right now by following the steps listed below.

  • Make sure that the airplane mode of the phone is not active.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S9 Stuck In Installing System Update

Problem: Samsung S9. I wanted to install the system update that appeared since about a week. Device has been looping in ‘Installing system update’ where it runs up to 26%, then reboots. The whole cycle keeps repeating. Soft Reset nor Recovery Mode are possible, even after battery completely drained. With Smart Switch  doesn’t see the device, probably doesn’t activate yet. What else can I do as I can’t reset the cache or do a factory reset?

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then from here you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
