S9+ Screen Flickers Under Direct Sunlight

Problem: I have had 3 Galaxy S9+ units with the same issue. (1 original purchase, 2 warranty replacements) When using the device in direct sunlight it causes color saturation to drop and a white flickering when scrolling or watching videos.

Solution: This issue is most likely caused by an unoptimized software that makes the auto brightness setting of the phone over sensitive to changes in lighting conditions when the phone is placed under direct sunlight. This phenomenon occurs most especially in devices with cameras using CMS sensors as well. To fix this problem you can try to do a factory reset to eliminate any software glitches that could be causing the problem. In case the issue persists after the reset then you should try turning off the automatic brightness setting of the device.

  • Go to Settings then Display.
  • From the Brightness section ensure Auto brightness is off.

S9+ Black Screen After Getting Wet

Problem: After dropping my phone into water i wiped it off then it got disturbed for few seconds opening the recently used apps then after few minutes the display was shivering like many lines on the screen when i kept it aside for an half an hour and try to use the same was repeating so i turned it off (power off) after some time i turned it on there was a vibration but it didn’t turn on it responded for volume up by giving the sound it also responded for messages may be as the phone is connected to wifi. i performed all the remedies possible but all that was in vain please help me recover it. Thanking you.

Solution: Although this phone has a waterproof feature there are still instances when water can enter the device especially if the rubber seals that prevent water from entering the phone has been broken. The best thing you can do right now is to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Once this is done try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as the device could already be water damaged.

S9+ Black Screen After Drop

Problem: Hi and thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide as I am desperate at this point.I have scoured your site prior to sending this email and still cannot figure out a solution to my problem. First, I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+.  It worked fine and had no problems whatsoever until I accidently dropped it face down onto a smooth concrete floor from about 2-3 feet. It had a very sturdy Iron Shield case on it so the rubber ridge of which protrudes above the face of the screen protected the screen from any visible damage. (no visible crack, no scratches, etc.)  After checking the screen to make sure I hadn’t broke it and after seeing no damage I breathed a sigh of relief and put the phone into my shirt pocket. About 10 minutes later the phone rang and I pulled it out of my pocket but noticed the screen was black, even though it still continued to ring. I answered the call using my headset and noticed the screen was still black even though I was talking on the phone. I hung up the call, again using my  headset to do so and screen has remained black ever since. I have tried pressing power and volume down keys trick without any change, screen still black. When I do the sof reset the blue light comes on as phone boots up and I hear the normal tones, noises, etc. I can also hear the normal notification noises and beeps but screen is still black. I hooked a data cable to my phone and connected to my laptop and phone pops up as media player and I was able to backup everything that was showing on my laptop as being in my phone.  If I remember correctly I am pretty sure that showed and I was able to download everything that is critical on my phone, i.e., files that showed were Android, DCIM, Data, Pictures, Downloads, etc. so I think I’ve got everything backed up and will lose nothing if a factory reset would help. Frankly at this point I don’t care what else might be on the phone so not concerned about losing anything important. I have spent the entire weekend thus far scouring your site, suggestions, troubleshooting, posts, etc., and have also scoured the internet looking for suggestions without any luck whatsoever.  I am now writing to you in the hopes that there might be a known fix, solution or even suggestions you might have to help me get my phone back up and working with a working screen. I am going through a very costly divorce and cannot afford a new screen, digitizer, etc so I am praying for a miracle at this point. I married a girl 3 years ago who has two children, one of them autistic and should have listened to everyone when they warned me that she was just looking for a provider and a dad for her kids but for the past 3 years worked my butt off providing for and trying to be a good dad and husband and it was all for nothing.  It is now costing me a ton to get out of this marriage and am lost without my phone. If it’s bad news and hopeless regarding my phone blank screen I want to thank you in advance and say that I really appreciate all of the selfless service you, your team and your site provides to people like me who need this type of help but don’t have but enough money just to survive.

Solution: Unfortunately it looks like the display assembly of the phone got damaged by the drop. Since you have successfully made a backup of your phone data then you should proceed with trying to do a factory reset from the recovery mode. If this still fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center as this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already.

S9+ Screen Is White

Problem: Hi, PLEASE can you help me!! For no apparent reason my S9 plus screen has gone all white and grey (like a hazy wavy lines) and won’t budge even if I try and do a reset or recharge the battery . All my holiday and precious recent photos are on it and haven’t backed up elsewhere . I’m desperate to retrieve my photos if nothing else. I can’t even access any apps or settings , the white/grey screen won’t budge . Really hope you have a solution as fear a technician will wipe all my photos off before fixing it. Thank you in advance. I can email a picture of the screen if helps

Solution: You can try to retrieve your photos by connecting the phone to a computer with Smart Switch installed and running. If the software can detect your phone then you can make a backup copy of your phone data. Once the backup has completed try doing a factory reset in recovery mode.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone  to a service center and have it checked.
