S9 Restarts When In Sleep Mode
Problem: Hey there! My Samsung Galaxy S9 has been having issues for a few days where it resets itself if it goes into sleep mode. I’ve done a lot of the troubleshooting steps on your site, even doing a full reset of my phone. The issue started randomly, I hadn’t downloaded any new apps or updates on the phone that day, and I deleted any recent apps I’ve downloaded anyway to be safe. I’m not sure what else I can try from here, but if there’s any further assistance you can give, I would appreciate it.
Solution: If the problem still occurs even after a factory reset then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already. A likely suspect is a defective power IC. Since this is a new model your phone should still be under warranty. I suggest that you bring this to a service center and have it checked.
S9 Not Charging After Fully Drained
Problem: My phone ran out of battery. I had not let that happen before. When I put it on to charge – I could feel heat, but it won’t turn on and it doesn’t indicate that it is charging. I haven’t had it for long. I had noticed that sometimes when I put it down, it would turn off and on again – essentially reboot. It would do this repeatedly some days. Do I just need a new battery or is the phone faulty? I have tried a different cord for charging – multiple different ones.
Solution: The first thing you need to do in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in it gets removed. Once this is done try charging the phone using its wall charger. Since you mentioned that the battery has fully drained then it might take a couple of minutes for the phone to respond. If there is no charging indicator after 20 minutes of charging then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port. Once the battery has sufficient charge try turning on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S9 Freezes While Playing A Game
Problem: My phone froze while I was playing a game on it. It was working perfectly before and it had around 70% battery when it froze. I tried the volume down + power trick multiple times but it keeps getting stuck on the Samsung logo screen and won’t progress from there. . When I try to enter safe mode by pressing the volume key, the phone shuts off immediately. I am not sure what happened and need to resolve this without losing my data, because I have some work materials saved on my phone. Thank you for your time.
Solution: To fix this issue try connecting the phone to a wall charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes. With the phone still connected to its charger try starting the device in Safe Mode. If you can access this mode then you should be able to backup your phone data. Once you have made a backup copy of your phone data then I suggest that you perform a factory reset.
If you are unable to start the phone in Safe Mode then you should consider doing a reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S9 Takes Too Long To Boot
Problem: My S9 is working well, however, STARTUP is taking much too long. Everything is fine and then an UNLOCKED padlock appears on the screen, spins for a while (maybe 30 seconds) and then starts up. The issue is the the length of time that the startup takes. It is not, therefore STUCK in the loop as it eventually starts up so the issue appears to be slightly different from the other PADLOCK issues that I have seen. Any ideas?
Solution: It’s likely that this problem is caused by a software glitch. To fix this you should backup your phone data then start the phone in recovery mode. From here wipe the cache partition of the phone then do a factory reset.
