Solved Samsung Galaxy S9+ Not Turning On Stuck On BSoD

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S9+ is one of the flagship devices that the South Korean company released this year which can be distinguished by its large 6.2 inch Super AMOLED display. The phone shares similar characteristics as the smaller S9 phone however this larger device has several key features that make it more attractive to consumers. Aside from its larger display and bigger capacity battery this model has more RAM ( 6 GB) and dual rear cameras. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S9+ not turning on stuck on BSoD issue and other related problems.

S9+ Not Turning On Stuck On BSoD

Problem: Good afternoon everyone. I have an S9 Plus, that I purchased new, a little over 2 weeks ago, from a local MetroPCS dealer when I transferred my service from Virgin Mobile. I’ve only had a couple of minor issues with it until last week. I took it out of my pocket to make a call, and found it had powered off. I tried to power it up, but got no response. I had used the phone a few hours before, and I was certain there was 60-65% battery left at the end of the call, but it wouldn’t power up. When I got home, I pressed power and volume down button. I connected the charging cable and still got no response. I jacked with it for several minutes, and then left it on the charger for 15-20 mins. I tried to power it up again, and finally, it lit up the initial boot sequence. About 20 secs. into the boot, I got a BSOD. I was not aware an Android phone was capable of such. After a minute or so, and various button presses, it appeared to be dead in the water. I have a voltmeter and checked the voltage on charging port, which was 3.84vdc. I connect it back to the charger, and got it to initiate the boot process again. About 15-20 secs in, another BSOD. More button pressing ensued (including power off), and then it oddly resumed booting. It made it past the screen lock code, and partially into the MetroPCS boot, and then, another BSOD. Several button presses later, to no avail, I was about to do soft reset, when it powered off. And sadly, it hasn’t shown any signs of life since. Do these particular models have a thermal control problem and develop processor issues over time? Can I replace the motherboard with another operational S9 Plus motherboard, or would I invariably see the same issue again?  I’ve owned more Samsung phones than I can count over the years, and I’ve been very satisfied with the general performance and durability of all them. Several of them were dropped 3-4 feet onto concrete or pavement, sans any protection, and all survived, showing only minor cosmetic damage, and zero broken screens. I hate to think that my phone, and several other models in their line-up apparently causing problems, might be signs of a Samsung division drifting off course and never fully correcting its heading…. Solution: Since this is a new phone I don’t recommend that you do anything with its hardware as it is most likely still under warranty. The best troubleshooting step you can do right now without voiding the warranty is to start the phone in recovery mode then from here perform the steps listed below which allows you to check if a software glitch is causing the problem.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone.
  • Do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. You should bring the phone back to the store and have it checked.

S9+ Will Not Charge

Problem: My Galaxy S9+ wouldn’t charge either wirelessly or with the charger. It also won’t turn on. This morning it had 100 percent power and the. A couple hours later it wouldn’t turn on. I tried a soft reset. It started charging at first went to 7 percent. I tried to turn it on while still charging but then became completely non-responsive.

Related Problem: My Samsung galaxy S9+ is rooted and I am about to install a custom ROM but my mobile is not even starting. When I connect the charger it only shows charging icon for 2-3 seconds then screen goes blank. It is not even going to recovery mode…. So please tell me if you guys can help me with this issue.

Solution: For this particular issue you should try removing the microSD card of the phone first ( if you have one installed) then do a soft reset. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If the phone does not start then connect it to a different charging cord and wall charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes. Make sure that you see the charging indicator.

If the phone does not charge then try to do the following

  • Use a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone.
  • Clean the charging port using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed. Check if the phone will charge.
  • Try using a wireless charger to charge the phone.

In case the issue still persists then I suggest that you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
