S9 Not Getting Mobile Data
Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy S9. My phone only works fine when I am at home near my wi-fi port. Once I leave the area, and go anywhere that doesn’t offer wifi, then I cant use most services. I have the most expensive plan that my service provider offers. I bought it, due to being not being technically savvy and hoping to lessen any potential problems. (Go figure) No one else in my family with cheap phones has this problem. Please help
Solution: If your phone has an active mobile data subscription but you are not getting a mobile data connection then you should proceed with the steps listed below.
- Make sure that the mobile data switch is turned on.
- Try to check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. if it doesn’t then you might have installed an app that is blocking your phone from using mobile data. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
It’s also possible that the problem is caused by a wrong APN settings. Try to check if this is the case.
- Open the Apps tray of the phone.
- Tap Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
- Reset your APN settings, tap Menu (3 dots) > Reset to default.
- Update the phone APN settings according to your carrier settings.
If your phone still can’t connect to the mobile data network then you will need to contact your carrier regarding this matter.
S9 Randomly Disconnects From Wi-Fi
Problem: Hello. I have a S9. There are no sweet treat names that I can see. My problem just started all of a sudden a little over a week ago I think maybe after an os update. My WiFi connection is the problem. It connects but won’t stay connected, causing me to use unnecessary amounts of data. When I reconnect I must re-enter the password most of the time. Occasionally it re-connects as it should. This alone is maddening. My wifi is fine, all of the other wifi devices in my home stay connected. And if one such as tablet, leaves the house, it reconnects immediately upon return. No other device disconnects on its own. Additionally The smart switch seems useless. I turn it off in an effort to keep it on WiFi while i am home and it doesn’t work. I spent several hours on phone with customer service with, seemingly, robots that don’t know any more than me. I am ready to do a public hammer smash and run over with truck. Please help. I apologize if you already have this problem addressed, I couldn’t find it. Thank you so much
Related Problem: Same problem seen elsewhere in that wifi keeps dropping out since last major update , we have had another update since then but this did not fix the problem. The problem is not constant but very often. Wifi signal stops working and shows ! mark. To get it working again i have to turn off wifi then back on again. It then usually works until it goes to sleep again, when I have to do the same thing again.
Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to forget the Wi-Fi network from your phone then restart the device. Once the phone has restarted connect to the Wi-Fi network again again.
- From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
- Go to Settings – Connections – Wi-Fi.
- Make sure that the Wi-Fi switch is on.
- Tap the Wi-Fi network you wish to remove.
- Tap FORGET.
In case the issue still persists then proceed with the steps listed below.
- Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
