Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Text Messaging App Is Slow

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is a flagship phone released last year that is quite popular among consumers. Its large 5.8 inch screen with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 makes it great for one handed text messaging. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 text messaging app is slow issue and other related problems.

S8 Text Messaging App Is Slow

Problem: I am extremely frustrated with my Samsung Galaxy S8 because the Messages App is slow to display all conversations, display individual conversations, display the keyboard, display typed letters, and send messages. I also am having trouble receiving group messages and photos, especially from iOS devices. Please help me to resolve these issues. I do not want to buy a new phone, but I have little patience for the the lagging Messages App.

Solution: Sometimes the lag in the messaging app can be caused by a corrupt temporary data in the app. To check if this is the case you need to clear the cache and data of the messaging app from the application manager. In case the problem still occurs after this then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then you might have downloaded an app that is causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8 Contact Shows As International Number

Problem: I recently brought my Canadian bought S8 with me to Australia, and got a new SIM card from Telstra. I now have a local number. when i text one friend (only her) on her local number, the text goes through fine. But when she texts me back, it wipes her as a contact from my phone and shows up as an international number. Then I am unable to text her back! I have tried deleting her as a contact and resaving, but it keeps happening. Also, having some trouble texting internationally. It relates to the way numbers are saved in my phone contacts. I have tried to update my contacts so that all numbers have the same format, but some of them save successfully and work, while others don’t. For example, to text Canada, I save the number as 1 604 989 098. In some cases, this works, and in others, it doesn’t. I notice that some of the numbers entered like this save with a + sign before the 1 ie +1 604 and others don’t. But I can’t seem to control this. Please help it’s driving me crazy! Thanks

Solution: You should try deleting the number of your friend not only from your phone but also the one saved on the cloud ( Google Contacts). Once deleted try saving the number again.

In case the issue still persists then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset as your phone might have some software installed that’s causing this problem.

S8 Cannot Reply To Text Conversation Of Contact

Problem: On my Samsung Galaxy S8 I have a single contact whose texts I cannot reply successfully to after I have closed his “thread” if that is the right word, and texted someone else. Before I do that, when I am looking at my list of conversations, his contact name will appear in the list. After I have texted someone else, only his phone number will appear. If I reply open it and reply, he never receives the text but I don’t get an error message. I have to restart a conversation with him for him to get it. It adds this conversation to the existing thread and his name is there again temporarily. I have tried removing him and re-adding him to my contacts but that didn’t work.

Solution: The best way to address this issue is to first clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then I recommend that you do a factory reset ad this could already be caused by a software glitch. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
