Note 8 Randomly Turns Off

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will randomly turn off when it’s charging. It will sometimes also randomly shut off when I’m on a phone call or using an app. In the middle of the night I’ll wake up to check the time but the phone just randomly shut off as well. What do you think the problem could be? Thank you

Solution: The best thing you can do right now is to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. First try starting the phone in Safe Mode then see is the problem occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then you might have downloaded an app that is causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then the next thing you need to do is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. In case it does then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already. The best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 8 Does Not Charge Using Wall Charger

Problem: Have a 2 week old samsung note 8, suddenly it stopped charging from wall power socket, it however charges from a power bank but the fast charging doesn’t work even though active in settings. Looks like a software bug to me cause a few days back the phone showed moisture (no liquid contact though) in charging port, after a couple of restart the issue was fixed. Your views?

Solution: It’s very likely that the problem is caused by a faulty charging port. Try cleaning your phone charging port using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port gets removed. Once the port is clean try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. If the problem still persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 8 Charger Gets Hot When Charging Phone

Problem: I am having an issue when charging my galaxy Note 8 . When I plug it in, it does not charge and the tip of the charger itself gets extremely hot extremely fast, to the point where I can not touch it. I tried charging my phone with other chargers, but was getting the same result. I have been able to use a wireless charge instead, thankfully.

Solution: If the issue occurs even when you use different charging cords and wall chargers then this is most likely caused by a shorted charging port assembly already. I suggest that you refrain from using a wired charger from charging the phone. To fix this problem you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 8 Not Charging After Software Update

Problem: My S8 & Note 8 (on T-Mobile) were both recently updated & a few days later, fast charging stopped working & then the phones stopped charging all together. USB & wireless both do not work….I basically have bricks now b/c they will not come on at all. Can you look into why this is happening?

Solution: If this issue happened after a software update then the best thing that you can do is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete check if the phone will charge. If it doesn’t then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.

Note 8 Screen Went Black

Problem: Hello! I’m having issues with my Note 8 phone. I have owned the phone since  2017 and until now it has worked completely fine. Today however, the screen went completely black all of a sudden. My battery is not empty, because I was charging it for about 45 minutes until the screen went black. When I try to turn on my phone, nothing happens, but when I’m charging it, the  light in the top right corner is showing. Do you have any suggestions?

Solution: Try doing a soft reset by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If the phone still does not turn on then connect it to a wall charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes. With the phone still connected to the charger try starting the phone in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then the problem could be caused by a software glitch. You will then need to perform a factory reset in this mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

In case the issue still persists then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
