Note 8 Randomly Shuts Down

Problem: Galaxy Note 8 randomly shuts down and will not power up till it wants to not matter what buttons I press it will randomly turn back on and most times gets stuck on Samsung screen also a bit hit and miss on weather it charges from the port always looks like its charging from qi charger as it turns green when it’s charging I had the battery changed as I thought this was the problem but that hasn’t fixed the issue

Solution: The first thing you will need to do in this case is to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. Observe if the issue still occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any app in your phone. Try checking first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by an internal component that is not working properly.

Note 8 Power Button Works Sporadically

Problem: Since last t mobile update my note 8 power button works sporadically. The screens goes into the “shutdown/restart/ safety mode” sporadically and sometimes without pressing the power bottom. I may add that this situation now is happening while Google updates . At this moment i need to press the power button continuously for a while for it to work.

Solution: If this issue occurred right after a software update then it could be caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. You will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset to fix this problem. If the issue still occurs after the reset then this could be caused by a faulty power button. You will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

Note 8 Not Turning On

Problem: My samsung Note 8 doesn’t turn on at all. I’ve left it to charge over night and tried resetting by holding down the power button and volume, but still nothing. Can’t remember the android version as it was a gift but looks like my other phone which aliso had same issue. Have some things I want to retrieve so seriously thinking about taking to geek squad, but hesitant do to repair fee of $130.

Solution: What you should do first in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Once this is done charge the phone using a wall charger and make sure that you see the charging indicator. If there is no  charging indicator then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the device.
  • Try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
  • Try using a wireless charger.

Once the phone battery has sufficient charge turn on the device by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 8 Turning On And Off

Problem: Suddenly my phone is not working anymore. It’s turning on and off on its own. I tried to follow all the instructions provided on support page. Nothing works. I can see the Samsung Logo and after few seconds the screen is all black, and so on. Is there a way I can export the contacts before sending the phone for repair?

Solution: The only way you will be able to export your contacts is if the phone stays on so you can complete the procedure. If you have linked your phone to a Google account then there’s possibility that your phone contacts have already been uploaded to the cloud and can be accessed from your Google Contacts account.

In case your contacts have not been saved to the cloud then you should try starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the phone stays on long enough in this mode then you will be able to backup your phone contacts.

Note 8 Shuts Down When Using Camera App

Problem: Note 8  shuts down with 50% percent battery left, usually happens when I’m getting ready to take a picture with the camera app. The phone will not power back on, until I connect it to the ac adapter. Then it shows that it is charging and it has at least 50% of the battery or more.

Solution: The best thing you can do in this case is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete check if the issue still occurs. If it does then the problem is most likely caused by a faulty battery or power IC. You will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
