Note 5 Cannot Connect To Mobile Network

Problem: I have a Samsung note 5 for abt 1.5 years. Recently it shut down on its own so very often and cannot connect to the network and mobile data. I have to do a soft reset and sometimes reinsert the SIM card or charge the phone in order to switch it on. It has been like this for the last 10 days. I have done a factory reset and it’s still the same. I have inserted my SIM card on another phone and it works. So SIM card is ok. The battery seems ok as I can charge it and it is not puffed up. Pls help me.

Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still occurs then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component possibly the antenna having issues. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Network Error When Making Calls

Problem: Hi, I’m from Ireland and my provider is 3. I have a Note 5.  I dropped it onto the bedroom floor yesterday and since then I am unable to make outgoing calls.  I still have 4G coverage but noticed when I go to calls and into additional settings or call barring settings I get an error message stating SIM or Network error. I have tried taking the SIM in and out and restarted the phone on safe mode and still nothing

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is most likely a hardware related problem possibly caused by the drop. You will then need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Not Registered On Network After Software Update

Problem: Updated Samsung Note 5 software and now phone has not registered on network message. Can see Optus and vodafone but not my network which is Telstra. SIM card works in different phone so not SIM problem. Have done the usual, turned off, remove and put SIM back in, even cleared cache. Problem seems to be the software update. Have two identical phones for my boys and both now useless and less than 6 months old in new condition.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to check if the phone has the correct APN settings.

For Telstra the APN settings are listed below.

  • Name: Telstra Internet
  • APN: telstra.iph
  • Proxy: Not required
  • Port: Not required
  • Username: Not required
  • Password: Not required
  • Server: Not required
  • MMSC: http://mmsc.telstra.com:8002
  • MMS proxy: 10.1.1.180
  • MMS port: 80
  • MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
  • MCC: 505
  • MNC: 01
  • Authentication type: Not required
  • APN type: default,supl,mms

In case the issue still persists I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset as the problem could be caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process.

Note 5 Cannot Send Receive MMS

Problem: Hi I am unable to send or receive mms with my Note 5.  I just purchased the phone and it upgraded to Android 7.0 I also changed carriers.  The phone makes voice calls, sms messages and connects to the internet via wifi and data, but no mms.  I contacted the carrier and they reset the apn’s. i also soft reset the phone numerous times but no success. I have been search the net for solutions, but all the solutions I have tried except for factory reset.  Any suggestions?

Solution: If your phone already has the correct APN settings and you still can’t send or receive MMS then perform the following steps listed below.

  • Make sure that you have an active mobile data subscription and turn on the mobile data switch of the phone.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
