Galaxy J7 Unable To Receive Photos In Text Message

Problem: I have had my Samsung Galaxy J7 Tracfone ordered from Amazon for a few months and everything was fine until three days ago. Suddenly I am unable to receive texted photos when I was always, able to do so before. A box appears with no subject and memory size of the photo. Download is a choice in the box so I click on it and the circle rotates indefinitely until the message appears as failed. I have done resets, deleted apps and files, scanned the phone to optimal but it still will not work. Can you help me???

Solution: The first thing that you will want to do in this case is to make sure that you have an active mobile data subscription and that your mobile data switch is turned on as picture messages are usually sent and received using the mobile data network instead of the Wi-Fi network.

In case your mobile data is active then the next step is to make sure that the phone has the correct APN settings. For Tracfone the settings are listed below.

  • APN Name: Tracfone
  • APN: TFDATA
  • Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
  • Port: 80
  • Username:
  • Password:
  • Server:
  • MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
  • MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
  • MMS Port: 80
  • MCC: 310
  • MNC: 410
  • Authentication Type: PAP
  • APN Type: default,mms,supl
  • APN Protocol: IPv4
  • APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
  • Bearer:
  • MVNO Type:

If your phone has the correct APN and the issue still persists then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Do a soft reset. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Once the phone has started check if the issue still occurs.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete make sure the phone has the correct APN settings then check if the issue still occurs.

Galaxy J7 No Sound Only Vibrates When Receiving Text Messages

Problem: Hi. . The issues I’m having is that since last update my phone J7 only vibrates when a text message is received and does not play the notification.. I have tested in safe mode still does it, cleared the cache, soft reset, removed/reinstalled apps . I do not know what to do, I’ve tried Samsung UK for support not very helpful Please could you help Kind regards

Solution: For this particular issue you should check the notification setting of the phone and make sure that it is set properly.

  • From the home screen go to Apps then Messages
  • Tap the menu icon
  • Tap Settings
  • Tap notifications and make sure that it is turned on
  • Tap notification sounds then make sure to choose a sound that you prefer
  • Tap vibrate when sound plays to turn on or off

You should also make sure that the volume setting of the phone is set to its maximum level.

Galaxy J7 Deleted Text Messages Appear After Phone Is Rebooted

Problem: Hi there. After the most recent update on my Samsung Galaxy J7, anytime after my phone is rebooted or restarted… I get a MASSIVE amount of deleted received messages sent to my phone again. I literally received 147 “new” messages within 10 minutes of my phone rebooting itself. These were all deleted messages. Every time I power off/back on my device, the same thing happens. Though this time, I only had to delete 46 “new” text messages over again. It’s fairly annoying. Any clue how to correct it?

Solution: Are you using a third party text messaging app that has a cloud saving feature? If you are then the text messages that have been synced to the cloud are being downloaded back to your phone once you restart the device.

The first thing to do in this case is to check if the same issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded most likely a text messaging app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue persists even in Safe Mode then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset as this might be caused by a software glitch.
