J7 Recent Back Keys Not Working

Problem: From last week  I have been having  issues with the recent key and back key function  on my phone, first the keys where not work after a reboot and at the set up stage the keys  were kind working but started to work on their own after set up done . Then I restarted from  factory settings because the keys would not stop working on their own but afterwards for some time they started to  work which I thought that all was well . Once again the keys stopped and would not work with everything else I tried, so I had to  turn on the function for those with low dexterity , which in itself is also a problem because it’s in the way. My question is this how can I get the back key and recent key to start working without  spending what don’t have or simple fix

Solution: Try checking first if an app you installed is causing the problem. To do this you will need to start the phone in Safe Mode. When your phone is started in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue still occurs in Safe Mode then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check if the issue still occurs.

In case the problem persists then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J7 Not Turning On After Getting Wet

Problem: My son bought a J7 . It got wet (though well within what should be ok for it), and has been not working properly. At first, it wouldn’t turn on. He put it in rice overnight and it eventually went to a screen that said it was updating. Then it turned on fine but was slow charging and some of the buttons wouldn’t work (volume and the back button primarily). He had to factory reset it after it wouldn’t turn on once, and it seemed to work perfect, but then it wouldn’t turn back on after it died, so he had to do the reset again. Last night it turned off and he hasn’t been able to turn it back on. We had contacted the company he bought it from since it was within their 30 day return policy, but they refused to do anything, saying they don’t cover water damage. We are hoping there is a cheap fix since he had bought the phone with his own money

Solution: The best troubleshooting step that you can do if a phone gets wet is to place it in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture present inside the phone. After 48 hours try to check if the phone needs to be charged first then charge the phone accordingly. You might need to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air if the phone will not charge.

In case the issue persists then the phone is most likely water damaged already. The best thing to do right now is to bring this to a service center and have it checked.

J7 System Update Available Always Appearing

Problem: recurring ” system updates available” notice.   I do the update , phone indicates update successful. Next day when I turn it on  same thing ‘ system updates available. Samsung said to install ‘smart switch’, that was successful also. This AM once again ‘ system updates available’ What’s up with this phone.

Solution: It’s likely that this is caused by a software glitch if the update version that you are getting is the same as the one your phone is using. What you should do right now is to backup your phone data then wipe the cache partition of your phone. Follow this up with a factory reset.
