J3 Not Connecting To LTE Network

Problem: Hello, I bought a samsung galaxy j3  about 6 months ago in the US. It worked perfectly with LTE. Now I am in Germany, so I unlocked the t mobile lock permanently. Then I inserted a new SIM card from another network operator. Since that moment I can just connect with E or G speed to mobile data, no 3G or LTE any more. I tried the new SIM card in an Iphone and it worked perfectly with 3g at the same location I am. I tried another SIM card from another person in my phone, and the same issue appeared. So I assume the SIM card is fine, it must be something with the phone. I already checked the APN´s, I made a complete reboot of the phone, nothing helps. I already contacted Samsung, T mobile and the new network operator, but none of them helped me to fix this issue. I hope you guys can help me. Thank you so much!

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete make sure that the phone has the correct APN setting. Check with your current carrier what APN settings your phone should be using.

J3 Cannot Use Mobile Data Network After Factory Reset

Problem: Hi,I received a Samsung J3  gift the other day from overseas and I’m having a small issue with it. There’s nothing wrong with the apps, the system is good, Wi-Fi works very well too, I guess everything is all good but there is one thing? I reset my phone when I got it and the problem is that the network service doesn’t work? I keep doing the “Configuring Service” thing but it keeps saying ‘Internal Error (12)’, It won’t let me register my device to the network. I filled up all the APN that my sim card required but it still didn’t solve my problem, I can’t still use mobile data yet because of it. Do i need to take it on a Samsung service center or something? Please let me know.

Solution: What you should do right now is to make sure that your phone has an active mobile data subscription. Connect your phone to a Wi-Fi network so that the phone can download the correct carrier settings.

In case the issue persists then you should double check with your carrier on the correct APN settings that needs to be used on the device as a wrong setting will usually cause this particular problem.

J3 Mobile Hotspot Not Working

Problem: Hello, thanks for hearing my problem. I’m from Greece and have an issue since last night with Wi-Fi and mobile hotspot. I’m using mobile data with hotspot to give internet to my PlayStation 3. Since last night mobile hotspot function and Wi-Fi doesn’t work anymore. I press the button to switch on hotspot or Wi-Fi and nothing happens. I tried factory reset from settings, nothing. I wiped cache from recovery still nothing. I’m desperate.. pls help me. Thanks in advance!!

Solution: The first thing that you need to do right now is to check if your phone is able to use its mobile data connection. Turn off the Wi-Fi switch then turn on the mobile data switch. Check if the phone can go online by opening a YouTube video. If the phone can go online then it should be able to activate its mobile hotspot feature. However, if the phone can not go online then you should make sure that you have an active mobile data subscription.

In case the issue persists then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J3 Cannot Connect To Mobile Data

Problem: I just bought a samsung J3.  I transferred my data from my old phone using Smart Switch.  Everything works except my data. The phone was “unlocked”, I put in my SIM card from AT&T, it won’t hook up to the data.  When I pull down the menu from the top, it says “RilNotifier Mobile data connection error. Unable to establish a wireless data connection.  It also says System Update, activation not completed, Select to retry activation process. I have tried to retry and it keeps trying but will not connect.

Solution: If it’s only the mobile data that does not work then the first thing you need to do is to check that you have an active mobile data subscription. The next step is to make sure that the phone is using the correct AT&T APN settings which we have listed below.

  • Name: ATT Phone
  • APN: phone
  • Proxy: not set
  • Port: not set
  • Username: not set
  • Password: not set
  • Server: not set
  • MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
  • MMS proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
  • MMS port: 80
  • MCC: 310
  • MNC: 410
  • Authentication type: None
  • APN type: default, mms, supl, hipri
  • APN Protocol: IPv4
  • Bearer: Unspecified
