LG G6 Sound Notification Not Working

Problem: I have a LG G6 which is still in excellent condition. Software is kept up to date. Lately it started giving problems with my alarm sound, calendar alarms (reminders) and whatsapp notifications – instead of the full notification sound I only get one or a few notes and then the sound stops – this has led to me oversleeping twice because the alarm thinks it has been heard. When I get to my phone and unlock the screen I see messages and/or reminders but I heard no notification or sometimes just a note or two. Message notification works fine. This is VERY ANNOYING for such a great phone – please can you help me?

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to check the sound settings of the phone and make sure that it is set properly.

  • Go to Settings then Sound Lab
  • Tap Volume
  • Adjust the volume level for the following: (Ringtone: Changes the volume of your call ringtones), (Notification sound: Allows you to set this volume level. This is the volume of the ringtone when you receive a notification.), (Touch feedback & system: Changes the volume for feedback taps and system notifications.), (Music, video, games & other media: Changes the volume of your music, videos, and other media.)
  • Tap OK

If the settings are correct but the issue remains then proceed with starting the phone in Safe Mode.

  • Press and hold the Power key.
  • In the options menu that displays, press and hold Power off.
  • When ‘Restart in Safe mode’ displays, tap OK to restart in Safe mode.
  • Upon restart, device displays ‘Safe mode’ at bottom of screen

If the issue does not occur in this mode then you might have installed an app that is causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

LG G6 Keeps On Rebooting

Problem: Hello and greetings from Spain. I have a G6 and love it. It has worked great although the battery life is increasingly diminished. Regardless, last night it rebooted on its own and is stuck now in a cycle where Recovery Mode doesn’t seem to help. Once in a while, Android restarts, I enter the device PIN and the SIM pin and I can see the home screen. Performance is very slow and the haptics make a strange light sound ever time I press the screen. The  home screen will then come on and the cycle repeats itself, trying to reboot.

Solution: Try removing the microSD card of the phone then start the device in recovery mode.

  • Turn off your phone.
  • Wait a few moments while the shut down process is completed.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • While pressing the Volume Down key press and hold the Power button.
  • Keep pressing these keys until the LG Logo is displayed.
  • Now, release the Power button for a moment and then press it again (do that while still holding Volume Down).
  • Keep pressing these buttons until the recovery mode is displayed on your LG G6.

Once in recovery mode do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G6 Music Stops Playing When Screen Is Off

Problem: This one has youtube premium member services, and samsung stumped. Plus the fact im smart enough to usually figure this crap out. G6, running android 8.0. I have youtube red. Never had any issues on my old phone. Switch to the G6, and now background playback only runs for between 5 to 10 minutes, after i turn the screen off, before stopping. When i turn it back on it’ll be buffering, and almost immediately resume. At first i seriously considered that i was just getting bad service in my pocket! Here is where it gets tough. Power saving off. Any app that would be even obscurely related is also on the exceptions list for power saving. As well as on the unmonitored apps list. Caches and data have been cleared. Youtube disabled to factory, where it still had the issue, and re updated. Yt music is installed. Google play music is installed. Tried every wifi calling setting. Tried different screen lock timers, even though it doesn’t have to be locked for the playback to stop. Safe mode has been entered, no use. Cache partition has been cleared. No one can find any setting, in any app thats causing this. I even tried new earbuds in case the button on mine had a short. Here’s where it gets crazy. This issue will not occur if the device is on the charger. Im clueless now. If you think you can solve it id much appreciate it.

Solution: The best thing you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. You will need to have this checked at a service center if this is the case.
