Solved Google Pixel 2 XL Not Charging After Android Pie Update

Google Pixel 2 XL Not Charging After Android Pie Update

Problem: Google Pixel 2 XL, phone will not charging using original equipment after updating to Android Pie. Aftermarket car charger and aftermarket wall charger will charge phone slowly, however using either of these methods, the phone will immediately turn off and continue to charge. I’ve had a second original charger sent out as warranty that did not rectify the issue, charger port is clean and not loose or otherwise damaged.

Solution: Several owners of this model have been experiencing charging issues with the device after they got the Android Pie update. It looks like if the stock charger is used which is USB C to USB C the phone will not charger. However if a third party charger that is USB A to USB C the phone will charge. It now appears that this is caused by a software glitch which  should be fixed by a future update ( try to check if a new update is available) . You can however perform the troubleshooting steps listed below to check if other factors are involved aside from the software.

• Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This will delete any old software data that might have not been removed during the software update process and is causing the problem.
• Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in the port.
• Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Google Pixel 2 Randomly Turning Off

Problem: Hi I have some serious problems with Google Pixel 2 running Android Pie. At first the battery used to drain out  and the phone used to stop even when it was at 20-30% level. Now it’s randomly shutting down even when it’s almost full battery charge and refusing to turn back up. After only repeated attempts it turns on again. I have already done one factory reset. Please help me how can I fix it. It’s only a few months old.

Solution: The best thing that you can do for this particular issue is to backup your phone data then start the phone in recovery mode. To access the recovery mode just follow the steps listed below.

• Turn off the phone by pressing the Power button for a short while.
• Press and hold the Volume Down button for about 2-3 seconds.
• While still holding this key press the Power button and release.
• Choose option Recovery by using to navigate Volume buttons, and to confirm Power key.
• When the Android Image shows up on the screen hold down the Power key for a couple of seconds.
• While  holding the Power button quickly press the Volume Up key.
• You should be in the Pixel Recovery Mode.

From here you will need to clear the cache partition of the phone then do a factory reset. After the reset restart the phone then do not install any apps yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to have this checked at a service center as this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component.

Google Pixel 2 XL Stuck In Boot Loop

Problem: My Google Pixel 2 XL tries to repeatedly reboot when I push the on button. The screen alights, the centrifugal G – the google swirl pattern fires up, Powder by Android appears and the phone turns off. The process repeats until the battery is flat. When I plug in the factory recharger a red light blinks to the left of the top ear loudspeaker aperture. The rebooting and turning off process continues.

Related Problem: I have a Pixel 2 XL phone it will not turn on when I plug it into charger a red light occurs showing that it is charging when I press the power button the red light goes away and a blue light appears and it just won’t turn on and the blue light stays on as long as it’s plugged into the charger when you take it off of the charger all lights go away.  Otherwise it’s still a great phone. Solution: The first thing you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge by following the steps listed below.

• Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in the port.
• Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger.
• If the phone does not charge then try using a different wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.

Once the battery of the phone has sufficient charge proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below. If after performing a step the issue still occurs then immediately proceed to the next step.

• Try to turn on the phone.
• Check the phone can turn on in Safe Mode. If you can access this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
• Check if the phone can turn on in recovery mode. From here you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone then do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
