Samsung Galaxy S8 Screen Stays On Issue & Other Related Problems

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is a radical change in the way Samsung designs its flagship phones. While the previous flagship models have similar design structures this new model is different. The first thing that you will notice is that it has a large 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display yet the phone has a similar overall body size to the S7. The home button has also been removed in its place is a virtual home button on the screen while the fingerprint sensor has been moved at the back. Although this is a solid performing device there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 screen stays on issue & other related problems.

S8 Screen Stays On

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy S8 turns on in the middle of the night, while it’s plugged in, and then does not turn off. There is no rhyme or reason to it. There doesn’t have to be a notification or be fully charged and I started charging it face down hoping to stop the problem but it has not helped. I now have burn on my screen from where the time displays because the screen comes on and then doesn’t turn off. So until I wake up and notice it’s on, the screen stays lit and doesn’t change. I have the Always On display OFF.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to check if a third party app is causing this problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode.

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen.
  • When “SAMSUNG” appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  • Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  • Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  • Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.

Check if the issue occurs when the phone operates in this mode. If it doesn’t then it is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then you should perform the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8 Unlocked Padlock With Green And Blue Line

Problem: Screen went black except in the middle there was an icon for an unlocked padlock with a green and blue line moving around the padlock in a circle. Hard reset wouldn’t work at first then finally did. Any idea what happened. Phone is less than a week old. Nervous about an issue that soon.

Solution: It’s possible that you have encrypted your microSD card and the phone is having a hard time decrypting the card. Try removing the card from your phone and if the issue does not occur then this is most likely what’s causing the problem. To avoid this issue again you should consider getting a new microSD card as the one you are using might have issues.

S8 Will Not Turn On

Problem: my samsung s8  will not turn on at all. i have tried to switch it on by pressing the power button and by pressing both the power button and the volume down  buttons at the same time. but nothing happens. i’ve left it on charge for a few hours but no charging light even comes on.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. Once this is done you should charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger. If the phone does not charge then you should try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port. Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down for at least 10 seconds.

If the phone still does not turn on then you should have this checked at a service center.

S8 Restarting Randomly Not Turning On

Problem: Hi, my phone was charged to 100% then it started to restart about 5 times, then would not turn at all after that, but it would register charge after 8-10 hours of not trying to charge it, when it reaches about 30% percent, i would try to power it on, but then my phone would completely die out and not charge anymore for the next day. My computer detects it,but i cannot access it in the file explorer

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then perform a factory reset from here. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).

  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.

Problem: My phone has been upgrading all night .the writing is saying downloading do no turn of target. i think it’s unusual for my phone to be taking so long to upgrade or update.

S8 Is Unresponsive

Problem: A few days ago, I was in class, working on posters. My phone was next to me on the table. Within an hour, it was unresponsive, with the characteristics of being dead. When I got home, I tried to charge it. Nothing. I tried cleaning the buttons, nothing. I tried various button combinations, a different charger and outlet, and still nothing. When I hold the power button down Samsung logo pops up, but after 2 – 5 seconds, it shuts off. I do not know what to do. Please reply back asap. I’m dying inside.

Solution: The problem could be caused by a battery not having enough charge. The first thing that you should do for this particular issue is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in it gets removed. Next, charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger. With the phone still connected to the charger try turning it on. If it doesn’t turn on then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.

S8 Connected To Wi-Fi But No Internet

Problem: My galaxy S8 says it is connected to public wifi connections with strong signal. But it will not load anything online.

Solution: Try going to your Wi-Fi settings then forget the Wi-Fi connection of the phone. Restart your phone then connect to it again.

If the issue persists then try to check if this occurs for any Wi-Fi network that you connect to. If it does then proceed with the additional steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the problem occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
