Samsung Galaxy S8 Keeps On Restarting Issue & Other Related Problems

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is the latest flagship model released by the company this year which has a different design from last years flagship phone. Aside from having a larger 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display the physical home button has now been removed while the fingerprint sensor has now been moved to the back. Despite the larger screen size of the phone it has similar dimensions as the S7 because of its tall screen with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Although this is a solid phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 keeps on restarting issue & other related problems.

S8 Keeps On Restarting

Problem: Hi I have a Samsung Galaxy s8 and it switched itself off about an hour ago and just keeps restarting but only with the black screen and the samsung or galaxy logo/writing, then occasionally it displays a green screen with android optimising app and has 35/41/42 out of 84 displayed on the screen too.  I have tried the reboot instructions as advised on the internet by holding the power button and then the volume down button and nothing else happens other than what I have already explained. Any help please would be great.

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? Ifdit does then try removing it then check if the issue still occurs. In case your phone does not have a microSD card then it’s very likely that this is caused by a software glitch. Try wiping the cache partition of the phone first from the recovery mode.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys. you will see the ‘Installing system update’ for about 30 – 60 seconds before  the Android system recovery menu appears.
  • Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe cache partition.”
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight “yes” and press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

In case the issue still persists then start the phone in recovery mode again and perform a factory reset from here. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

S8 Screen Went Black

Problem: Screen went black while in my pocket. It was answering text and phone calls. Did soft reboot and followed other troubleshooting guide.. it will charge and vibrate with power key but now will not take calls or text.  My carrier is virgin mobile and I don’t know the android version. I’ve only had this phone 2 weeks. it was in my pocket and was working fine. I was riding a bike and pulled it out and it had a black screen. I thought maybe it had locked me out from bouncing in my pocket. but it never came back. I can’t even tell if the phone is on.. I’m not sure if I accidentally did a hard reboot and wiped it. but if you  call it goes straight to voicemail and i can feel home button vibrate once. and volume up button beeps

Related Problem: My phone has totally blacked out, still under manufacture warranty, this is the 2nd time I have had to replace it.  Nothing works to turn it back on, charging it does not work.  Totally Black, with red light only.  Please advise, this phone cost me 800.00, it should last better.  I will take into advisement the remedies given here for a next time.  But although I’ve tried everything it remains the same.

Solution: I suggest that you charge the phone first for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger. Make sure that the charging indicator is present. After 20 minutes disconnect the phone from its charger then turn on the device by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.

In case the issue persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Not Charging From Wall Charger

Problem: Hi, I have read your article. Thanks it had been of great help. Since I have tested it in Safe mode hence I am sure that there is no hardware related issue. The problem is that my phone is not charging from wall charger. However, when I connect it to a mobile charger , it works. When I used it in safe mode even the wall charger was functioning. I have  a software update pending. Can that be the reason? Looking forward to your response.

Solution: This problem could be caused by a faulty wall charger or an issue with the charging port of the phone. Follow the steps listed below to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in the port.
  • Try charging the phone using a different charging cord
  • Try charging the phone using a different wall charger.

If the problem persists then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty charging port.

S8 Randomly Switches Off When On Mobile Data

Problem: Recently it has been showing a very bad problem that affects me greatly. Let’s pretend I’m out having lunch and turn on my mobile data. I go into Snapchat to check if someone has sent me something. Then…. It switches completely off. I hold down the power key to power it up again. It reboots and is working fine for about 5 to ten seconds and then it switches off again. Sometimes I’m lucky and in those few seconds I manage to switch off mobile data, and after that the phone is fine and nothing is wrong with it. Other times it keeps shutting down before I can switch off mobile data so I just decide to leave it off. I come home and connect it to a charger and then, it’s fine and works perfectly. Please help me because I really need this phone to work. And yes it only switches off when my mobile data is switched on and I’m on Snapchat.

Solution: What you will want to do in this case is to check if the Snapchat app is causing the problem by uninstalling it. Once uninstalled turn on your mobile data then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Remove the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is nad uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Do not install any app in your phone yet after the reset. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Unresponsive After Using Snapchat Video

Problem: Hi there! I was using Snapchat on my S8, taking a video, and when I released the video button my phone went black and unresponsive. None of the buttons are working. I tried to charge it, but it’s not charging either. I tried all the solutions you’ve mentioned in other articles such as reboot and recovery mode, but I can’t even get to those options because it doesn’t respond. Any tips?

Solution: Try performing a simulated battery pull which is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. In case this doesn’t work then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in it is removed.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger.
  • Turn on the phone.

If the issue persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Screen Unresponsive Due To Crack

Problem: I bought this phone from Vodafone a month ago. After charging overnight, it was very hot. I unplugged it and it made a popping noise and the screen turned purple and a small crack appeared at the top left corner of the phone. The screen became unresponsive. I took the phone back to the shop i bought it from who have stated it is physical damage not covered by warranty. They also charged me $57 to test the phone! This should be covered by warranty as i did nothing to cause the damage but was using the phone normally.

Solution: Unfortunately, the only way to fix this problem is to have the display assembly replaced. If the screen cracked on its own while you were charging it then this should be covered by the warranty.
