Samsung Galaxy S7 Won’t Fast Charge Issue & Other Related Problems

In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S7 won’t fast charge issue & other related problems.

S7 Won’t Fast Charge

Problem: I’m facing problem in my galaxy s7 is that the phone won’t charge fast it takes 6 to 7 hour to charge and check the fast charging option in setting its on i’m totally satisfy with my charger and check it on my s6 it’s working.can you please help me i’m in big trouble.

Related Problem: When I go to charge my phone, the estimated time until it is fully charged keeps changing. I have a fast charging block, and fast charging is enabled. But when I plug it in, it tells me it’ll take 4-5 hours to charge, then change to normal, then back and etc. I’ve tried a different cord but gotten the same result.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to check that any dirt or debris that’s stuck in this port is removed. Once this is done check if the phone will now fast charge. If it still doesn’t then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try using a different charging cord.
  • Try using a different wall charger. Make sure the charger has an output rating of 2.0A.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Check if the phone fast charges.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a battery related problem.

S7 Not Recognizing microSD Card

Problem: Hi . My phone (Samsung S7) used to have a SD card and I used to store all my pictures in this SD card itself. Suddenly, I don’t know what happened my phone is unable to detect the SD card. When I put this SD card into my laptop, it is not able to recognise it. I have all my pictures and videos in it. Is there any possible way to retrieve it? Please help!!!

Solution: If the microSD card can’t be detected by your phone or by a computer then it is most likely corrupted already. Unless this card can be detected then it’s going to be difficult to retrieve the data stored in the card.

S7 Not Holding Charge

Problem: Hi I have a Samsung s7 phone. For no reason at all it’s stopped holding any charge. If the phone is plugged into a charger it’s fine and charges normally. As soon as it’s taken of once at 100% it turns off and go straight back to 0% charge. I have tried the reset with the volume and power button. What can I do

Solution: It looks like the battery of the phone might already be faulty. To check if this is the case you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Make sure to connect the phone to its charger when you do this. Once the reset is complete and the issue still occurs then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have the battery checked. It’s very likely that this battery will have to be replaced with a new one.

S7 Keeps On Restarting

Problem: Hi, For some reasons my phone keeps restarting every 2 minutes. I also can’t put my password in because the keyboard won’t appear and when it does appear the phones shuts down . What can I do? Thank you

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing this as this might be causing the problem. In case the issue persists or if your phone does not have a microSD card installed then you should start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Keeps On Turning Off

Problem: My galaxy s7 keeps turning off even though it is not in use. It usually happens during the night. It has happened for multiple nights now. I have left it at 40% and when I woke up it was dead.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the issue occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then perform the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset do not install any apps in your phone instead check first if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Not Responding

Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy S7, and just this morning as I was using it, the app that was running crashed. it gave me the option to “Stop” it, and so I did, only for my screen to go black while the toolbar/menu on the top stayed. I tried turning off the screen and turning it back, but there was no change. The home and power buttons do not work other than to turn the screen back on. Holding the power button does not bring up the options to power off, sleep, or restart. I tried to take out the sim (kind of a stupid move on my part), and placed it back inside, and now the “No SIM card – emergency calls only” phrase doesn’t go away from the top. On top of that, the touch has stopped working. I can’t bring down the menu, or do anything else.

Solution: The first thing that you will have to do in this particular case is to turn off the phone then remove the SIM card. Once this is done turn on the phone then  check if you are still experiencing any of the issues. Reinsert the SIM card if your phone is now working normally. In case the issue persists then I recommend that you start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Not Getting Software Update

Problem: Hi my phone has been unable to do a software update for a while I’ve tried many times it gets to 31% and then fails I’ve done the clear cache thing and a factory reset yet it is still doing this I’m not sure what it is running on anymore and unsure as how to find out last.

Solution: You should try updating your phone using the Smart Switch software. In case this does not work then you should consider manually flashing the updated firmware file using Odin. You can get the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website which is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.
