Samsung Galaxy S7 No Sound when Receiving Text Messages Issue & Other Related Problems
The #Samsung #Galaxy #S7 is one of the top selling smartphones of 2016. The reason behind this is because of a number of factors starting with its solid design, powerful hardware, excellent software, and great features. A lot of people have been describing this device as the S6 that should have been since it looks like its predecessor yet comes with several features that the previous model lacked such as waterproofing and the availability of a microSD card slot. Although a lot of people who are using this phone have not experienced any issues with it there are still instances when certain problems can occur which we will be addressing. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S7 no sound when receiving text messages issue & other related problems.
S7 No Sound when Receiving Text Messages
Problem: Hi, My father is having problems with his galaxy S7 with the text notifications and screen rotation. To be more specific, I have checked all the sounds and notifications in the settings and every one is on as loud as it can go, I have changed his message notification sound and still nothing. His phone will not alert him by sound if he gets a text message. Also the scroll down menu is not available anymore, the phone does nothing when you attempt to scroll down. Lastly the pictures on his phone will not rotate when the phone is switched on its side. Thank you for any help in advance.
Solution: Since you have already made sure that the volume is set to maximum what you will want to do next is to make sure that the Notification switch is turned on for the messaging app. To do this open the Messages app then tap on the More option ( the three dots on the upper right side). Make sure that Notifications is on from here. You can also go to the Notification Sound option then change the sound that it will play for each message received.
If the issue persists then perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below. After performing each step make sure to check if the issue still occurs and if it does then proceed to the next step.
- Clear the cache and data of the messaging app from the application manager.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
As for the issue regarding the photos that will not rotate you just have to make sure that the auto rotate feature of the phone is in the on position.
- Pull down the status bar to display the quick settings menu.
- Tap Auto rotate icon to turn the option on or off.
S7 Message Sending Failed Error
Problem: I have a samsung s7. I’ve had it for about 3 months. Suddenly within the last 3 weeks i get a “message failed” when i send a text. However i know that the text was received by the recipient. I’ve had several tech people look at it and they’re baffled. I’ve done a factory and the problem persists.
Solution: If a factory reset does not fix the problem then we can safely eliminate the software as a possible culprit. The next troubleshooting step that you should do is to check if a network issue is causing the problem. To do this just remove the SIM card from your phone and insert it in another device. With the SIM card placed in another device you should check if the same error occurs. If it does then you need to contact your carrier regarding this matter. In case the issue does not occur then the problem could be caused by some issue with the phone hardware in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Not Receiving Text Message Code From Bank
Problem: when buying online with spanish bank card do not receive text message with code to make transfer but when i use my card in a shop i get a text message with confirmation of using my card in a shop or taking money out of a cash point
Solution: Since you phone is capable of receiving text messages from special numbers then what you should do first is to check if you have placed the bank number in the block list of your phone.
- From any Home screen, tap Messages.
- Tap the Menu or MORE icon.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Block messages to select the check box.
- Tap Block list or Block number.
- Tap the minus sign next to the number you want to remove.
- When finished, tap the back arrow.
The procedure listed above is applicable only if the number is in the block list. Once the number has been removed then check if you can now see the text message.
In case the number is not in the block list then you should confirm this issue with your bank. They might have the wrong number registered under your account which is why you are not receiving the text messages. Another possibility is that the problem could be caused by a network glitch in which case you will need to coordinate with your carrier regarding this matter.
S7 Text Message Timestamp Shows Time Received Not Sent
Problem: I just upgraded from a galaxy s4 to an s7 a couple weeks ago. If i get a text while my phone is off, when I turn my phone on the text will say the time the phone turned on instead of the time the text was sent. It does the same thing if I get one while I don’t have service, the time I get service and the text comes through is the time that’s shown. For example, let’s say my phone is off at 5:00 and someone texts me, if I turn my phone back on at 6:00 the text will say it was sent at 6:00 instead of the actual time. The building where I work has terrible service so nothing comes through until I leave, it’s very frustrating not knowing when the messages were actually sent. I never had this problem with my s4, only after I upgraded to the s7.
Solution: This is actually how the new software version works where the actual time that the message was received by the phone is the one that is indicated in the timestamp. A detailed explanation as to why the time indicated is not the time it was sent instead of the time it was received is explained in this link.
S7 SMS Shows As Sending Failed Even If They Send Out
Problem: I just did a software update. The phone will send and receive both SMS and MMS. The problem is, even though the SMS messages are getting to the recipient, all sent SMS show as “failed”. MMS send without any issues.
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager. As soon as this is done you should restart your phone. If the problem still occurs after this then it could be caused by some form of old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. What you will want to do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
