Fixing Galaxy S10e with “Internet has stopped” error

First off, if you don’t want to time to fix this problem immediately, then the best thing you can do to be able to browse the web is to use a different browser. Your Galaxy S10e has a couple of browsers that come pre-installed. First is the Internet and the second is Chrome. The former is, of course, Samsung’s app while the latter is Google’s. If your purpose is to browse the web then use Chrome to do so while this error is bugging you. However, if you want to make your phone run smoothly again, then here are the things you need to do…

First solution: Perform the Forced Restart procedure first

When dealing with minor problems that you don’t know the cause, it’s best to begin your troubleshooting method with a forced restart. It’s a simulated battery removal that refreshes your phone’s memory as well as reloads all apps and services. If it’s just a minor issue with the firmware or caused by a glitch, then this procedure will fix it. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy S10e logo shows on the screen.

Once the phone has finished restarted, browse the web using the app and see if the Internet has stopped error still shows up.

Second solution: Find out if the error is caused by a third-party app

Internet is a core application so it follows that some third-party apps are using some of its services. These apps may also cause other apps to crash and that could be just the case here. To rule this out or to find out more about this problem, restart your phone in safe mode to temporarily disable all third-party apps. Here’s how you do that:

  1. Press and hold the Power key until options show.
  2. Tap and hold the Power off option until it changes into Safe Mode.
  3. Tap the Safe mode icon to restart your device.
  4. Once the reboot is successful, you should see ‘Safe mode’ at the lower-left corner of the screen.

Once the phone has entered safe mode successfully, use the app and see if the internet has stopped error still pops up the moment it’s opened. If the error disappears or no longer shows up while in this mode, then it’s confirmed that it’s due to a third-party application. Follow these steps to determine the culprit:

  1. Restart your phone normal to boot into standard mode.
  2. Remember the apps you installed about the time when the phone starts to reboot by itself.
  3. Once you already have an app in mind, swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  4. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  5. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  6. Find and tap suspected app.
  7. Tap Storage.
  8. Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
  9. Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall.
  10. Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.

However, if the problem continues and the error internet has stopped still pops up, then move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Clear the cache of Internet app

At this point, we will have to troubleshoot the app itself because the error could have been caused by a corrupt cache. Each app has its own cache that makes it run smoothly. However, there are times when the cache gets corrupted and when it happens, app crashes and other app-related issues may occur. What you need to do first is to delete the cache so it will be replaced with a new one and this is how it’s done on your S10e:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Internet.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear cache.

If the Internet has stopped error still shows up after doing this procedure, then move on to the next solution.

Fourth solution: Reset Internet

For apps, a reset means deleting their data files which contain user settings and preferences. Needless to say, when this procedure is performed, the app will be brought back to its default settings and configuration and if the problem is just due to a minor issue with the app, this will definitely fix it. Here’s how:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Internet.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear data and then tap OK to confirm.

After this and if the Internet has stopped error still pops up when the app is launched, then try the next solution.

Fifth solution: Delete the system cache

Just like app caches, the system cache may get corrupted sometimes and may also result to app crashes and other performance related problems. We need to rule out this possibility before moving to another procedure. With that said, the next thing you should do is delete the system cache so it will be replaced with a new one. Here’s how you do that:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Galaxy S10e logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your Galaxy S10e will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  6. Press Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

After doing this and your Galaxy S10e still shows the Internet has stopped error, then it’s time for the ultimate solution.

Sixth solution: Backup your files and reset your phone

At this point, a master reset is necessary. As long as your phone’s firmware hasn’t been modified, you can fix this problem by doing a reset. However, make sure to create a copy of your important files and data as they will be deleted. After that, remove your google and Samsung accounts so that you won’t be locked out.

  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
