Samsung Galaxy Note 9: Safe Mode, Wipe Cache Partition and Reset Applications

How to reboot Samsung Galaxy Note 9 in Safe Mode

All third-party apps and services will be temporarily disabled when you boot your phone in safe mode. This procedure is very important in troubleshooting problems wherein the phone cannot run successfully in normal mode.

For issues wherein the device runs so slow, you can also use this method to observe your phone to know if it still works perfectly when all third parties are disabled.   1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
  3. When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power key.

  5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.

  4. An ‘Installing system update’ message will show for 30 – 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  6. Press Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Your device may take a little while rebooting after doing this since it will rebuild deleted cache. Just wait for it to become active and then continue your observation to know if the problem still persists or got fixed.

How to reset applications on your Samsung Galaxy Note 9

To reset an application means to clear its cache and data. This procedure is very effective in fixing app-related problems and errors. If you’re getting an error like “Unfortunately, an app has stopped,” more often than not, the problem is with the app and this procedure is a perfect fix. Here’s how you do it on your Note 9:

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > Apps.
  3. Tap the desired application in the default list.
  4. To display preinstalled apps, tap Menu > Show system apps.
  5. Tap Storage > CLEAR CACHE > CLEAR DATA > DELETE.

After doing this, open the app you’re having problems with to confirm if the problem is fixed. If not and if you’re dealing with a third-party app, you can try uninstalling it to remove all its associations with the firmware and other apps. After which, download it from the Play Store and reinstall it.

  4. To display preinstalled apps, tap Menu > Show system apps.

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Play Store > Menu > My Apps.
  3. To auto-update apps, tap Menu > Settings > Auto-update apps.
  4. Choose one of the following options:
    • Tap Update [xx] to update all applications with updates available.
    • Tap an individual application and then tap Update to update a single application.
