Note 5 Won’t Fast Charge Anymore

Problem: Hello. My note 5 won’t fast charge anymore. I plugged it into the fast charger, it made the sound it does when you plug the phone into charge, but after a few minutes it started to act strange. It began to make the sound as if it was just being connected again, and again, and again, and again. I thought my wife was playing with the phone but she wasn’t, and a little bit later i saw the phone was turned off. I turned it back on. Now the phone will not fast charge. It will charge, but it charges very weak according to the warning i get now.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris that could be stuck in the port as this could cause charging problems. In case the issue still persists after this then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try using a different charging cord. This cord gets easily broken especially if it is constantly bent or coiled which is what might be the case with the cord that you are using.
  • Try using a different fast charger ( must have an output rating of 2.0A).

In case the above steps don’t work then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as the problem could be caused by any of the following listed below.

  • Damaged charging port assembly.
  • Faulty battery.
  • Faulty power IC.

Note 5 Not Charging Unless Connected To Computer

Problem: Hello. So I have trouble in charging my note 5. This started when the a plain black image suddenly popped up (just like what ads do but when i pressed the ‘ x ‘ button, it wont go away) and vanished by itself. At first i thought it was really an ad from the app that i recently installed which is the Idea Sketch for the S Note app.So I uninstalled it but when I was about to charge my phone, it simply wont charge anymore without me restarting it first and connecting it on a computer and transferring it on an outlet after (bc of slow charging). Now i’m curious if my firmware is damaged or the battery of the phone or the hardware part of it. Thank you!

Solution: This appears to be a hardware related problem already however there are some troubleshooting steps that you can try to fix the problem. Perform the following steps listed below then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed to the next step.

  • First and foremost you should clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris that could be stuck in this port.
  • Try using a different charging cord and wall charger ( must have an output rating of 2.0A) when charging your phone.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely a hardware related issue already possibly caused by a defective charging port, battery, or both. If this is the case then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Software Update Stops Installing

Problem: I have downloaded the new update of my note 5 many times and when updating process reach to 32 percent the updating process stops. Another issue is the security notice that says unauthorised action have been detected.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete perform the software update again. If the same issue still occurs then you should consider manually flashing the update to your phone using Odin.  You can get the updated firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website. This is also where you will get the detailed instructions on how to flash your phone.

Note 5 Sound Notifications Not Working After Nougat Update

Problem: Galaxy Note 5 sound notifications, ringtones and videos not working after Nougat update. When playing video files received an error message “failed to play video” This issue is intermittent. Occurs once or twice a day. When i restart or turn max power saving, everything works good.

Solution: It looks like this is caused by some form of old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. When this old data gets left behind it usually causes a conflict with the new software version. The best way to tackle this problem is to backup your phone data and then do a factory reset.

Note 5 Can’t Receive Calls After Nougat Update

Problem: I recently updated 2 nougat on my Note 5 . Now I’m noticing that people cannot call in, they go straight to my voicemail, and I cannot receive incoming text messages. When I pick up my phone and dial out I can make outgoing calls but then all the text messages that everybody’s been trying to send me come in all at once. I never know when this is happening, it’s happening randomly.

Solution: If this problem occured right after you updated your phone software then there’s big possibility that this is caused by some form of old software data that has not been completely removed. What you will want to do right now is to backup your phone data and then do a factory reset.

Note 5 Calls Can’t Be Heard When Ringer Is On

Problem: After my phone updated on it’s own in the night a while back. I have not been able to make or receive a phone call with my ringer on because the person on the line can’t hear anything but silence. If I leave it on vibrate the calls function as they should. This is my biggest issue I have had with the update. I have dealt with many tech support and no solution and a factory reset didn’t resolve the issue either.

Solution: If a factory reset does not solve the problem then you can check further if the update is causing the problem by rolling back the phone software to its previous version. This can be done by manually flashing the old firmware version using Odin. You can get the firmware from the Sammobile website which is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.
