Note 4 Vibrates When Turning On Then Screen Goes Black

Problem: My vibrates as if it’s about to turn on, then it just keeps giving short vibrates as if it’s trying to power on again but the little blue AT&T icon in the upper-left corner is lit. and then it goes from brighter to darker as if it’s in some sort of sleep mode. The screen never changes from Black. It had done this a few days ago and after removing the battery and putting a new one in and soft resetting the phone everything worked fine I also change the S Note cover and that seemed to help my phone was fine for approximately 18 hours. But once it did it again I have not been able to get it to start up again I’m afraid to lose all of my data inside the phone I do have Google Drive and cloud and all of that but just a couple days before I noticed a lot of my folders had not been syncing with the cloud which was odd because I had everything setup to sync all the time. There are also text messages on my phone that I really need to access I’m afraid to do any hard reset and lose all of that information. Is it possible to get into my phone with my computer and save all that data before resetting the phone or is there a fix that I just don’t know about yet? Please help!! Thank you in advance.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this particular case is to check if the battery is causing the problem. Try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes before turning it on. Make sure that you see the charging indicator on your phone. Check if the phone successfully turns on. If it does then you might need to have the battery replaced.

Just in case you don’t see a charging indicator follow the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed.
  • Try charging the phone using a different USB cord
  • Try charging the phone using a different wall charger.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem you can proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This deletes the temporary system data of your device which could be causing the problem.

If at this point the issue still remains then you will have to consider doing a factory reset. As for backing up your phone data you should try connecting the phone to a computer with Kies running then let the software do the backup.

Note 4 Won’t Turn On

Problem: My phone won’t basically turn on. I’m not sure whether it’s my battery or my charging port. As soon as I insert my charger I don’t get the noise it usually makes when it’s charging. I’ve tried numerous chargers but still nothing. I want to know if it’s just my battery because I feel like that’s what’s the problem. Thanks for your time, highly appreciate it.

Solution: The best way to check if the problem is caused by a faulty battery is to replace it with a new one. The new battery will be pre-charged when sold so you should be able to turn on your phone with this. If the phone does not turn on then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Charge your phone using a different wall charger and USB cord for at least 20 minutes.

If the phone still does not turn on then this could be caused by an internal component that is failing to work. I suggest that you have this checked at a service center.

Note 4 Battery Drops To 0% Turns Off Randomly

Problem: My phone can be as high 69%, and will just drop to zero and turn off randomly. If I plug into charger, I can turn back on and use. What is problem? How do I fix it?

Solution: There’s a possibility that this problem is caused by faulty battery. Try replacing this with a new one first. If this doesn’t fix the problem then what you should do next is to check if the phone software is causing the problem by doing the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs when your phone is operating in this mode. If it doesn’t occur then it’s possible that it is caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try checking if the temporary system data of the phone is causing this problem by wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue persists then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Overheats When Charging Then turns Off

Problem: Phone died. When trying to charge it overheats and shuts itself off. Then the battery light will be green for a short period of time and then it goes off. Sometimes it will boot to a point and freeze. Overheat and turn off

Solution: The fact that the phone overheats when charging mean that this could already be a hardware issue. Try to check if the issue occurs even when you use a different wall charger and charging cord. If it does then try using a new battery on your phone. If the phone still overheats then turns off I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

Note 4 Randomly Restarts Then Shuts Off

Problem: I own a galaxy note four, and I got the Christmas of 2015. A little less than a year later, it started to die with 10- 30 percent left in the battery. I use 360 security, which kills apps, boosts my phone, and keeps it protected. I replaced the battery, which made it better (it didn’t die at 10-30 percent, but it randomly restarts and shuts off, and i have to take the battery out and put it back in for it to turn back on) i was wondering if this was common, and if you knew how to fix it. Thank you so much for your time.

Solution: Do you have a microSD card installed in your phone? If you have then try taking it out as this might be causing the problem.

Another factor that can cause this issue is a glitch in the phone software. For this particular issue I would recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install any app in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then it could be caused by an internal component that’s failing to work. If this is the case then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Power Off Randomly

Problem: Hi, I am having Samsung Galaxy Note 4. My phone started to power off randomly at different intervals all of sudden. Sometimes it stays on for more than 5 hours and sometimes only 30 mins despite the battery is 100% The behaviour I noticed is, 1. When i turn on mobile data it gets power-off immediately and sometimes it won’t. When my mobile is connected to WiFi, i never have this power-off problem. Actions performed: 1. New original battery replaced but still the problem exists 2. Wiped off the cache but still the issue exists 3. Un-installed all the apps that I installed during the last 2 months but no luck. I haven’t tried the factory reset. I wanted to have this as a last option and wanted to check with you. I updated to 6.0.1 in the month of Oct and it was working fine. I went on vacation and started to have this problem only after my vacation, i am not sure if the baggage scanning at the airport damaged some components inside my phone. This is just my guess. Kindly advice me on the issue.

Solution: If you have a microSD card installed in your phone then I suggest you try taking this out first then check if the issue still occurs. This is to check if a corrupt card is causing this problem.

If your phone doesn’t have a microSD card or if the issue still occurs even after taking out the card then you should consider doing a factory reset.

Note 4 Stuck In Recovery Mode

Problem: note 4 is now stuck in recovery mode. did soft and hard reset as it kept freezing and shutting down was having to remove battery out /in to start phone every hour on a final hard reset i cannot get it to reboot. took battery out and back in and opens in recovery mode any ideas please help

Solution: Try doing a hard reset again from recovery mode then restart the phone. If it still starts in recovery mode then check if any of the phone buttons is stuck causing this issue to occur. Once you have verified that the buttons are working fine take out the battery and microSD card ( if you have one installed) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone.
