Note 4 Cannot Move Apps To microSD Card
Problem: I have a 30 gig sd card installed in my Samsung Note 4 and under storage it shows I have over 27 gigs still available. I cannot move apps to the SD card because there isn’t enough space??? So I go into my files and look at the SD card and try to delete files it will not allow me to delete pics or old files and there is a substantial amount of space to move any app to this. How do I fix this other than resetting my phone or sd card?
Related Problem: when I tried to move an app to the SD card I got the message “unable to move as not enough space” but my SD card itself has 29 GB free space remaining.
Solution: There are two possible reasons why this problem is happening. It could either be caused by a corrupted microSD card or a glitch in the phone software. What you need to do first is to troubleshoot this card. To do this take out the microSD card from your phone then let your computer read it. You will need a card adapter to do this.Once the card is detected by your computer check if you are able to copy some files to it. Try to copy some files from the card to your computer as well. If you are unable to copy files either way then the problem could be caused by a corrupted microSD card. I suggest you use a new microSD card on your phone. As for this corrupt microSD card you can try to fix it using some of the known recovery software available. If you are using a Windows based computer then you can use the CHKDSK command to repair the card.
If the you don’t experience any problems copying data to the microSD card or copying data from the card to your computer then the next thing you should do is to check your phone. In this case I suggest that you backup your phone data then immediately proceed with a factory reset. Once the reset is done insert the microSD card to your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
Note 4 Can’t Access Photo Saved In microSD Card
Problem: I moved my SD card from my note 3 to my note 4. I was able to access everything on my SD card through my note 4 for last 3 months. I tried to pull an image up on my SD card today and I get nothing other than photo emblem with an ! Next to it. Your thoughts or recommendations to fix/recover would be greatly appreciated.
Solution: When you are unable to access a photo that is stored in the microSD card then there’s a possibility that the photo is corrupt. You can further check if this is the case by taking out the microSd card from your phone then connecting it to your computer. You will need a card reader to perform this task. Once the card is read by your computer go to the folder ( usually the DCIM folder) that contains the photo files then check if they can be viewed. If you are unable to view the photos then it’s very likely that they are already corrupt. If you have the sync feature of Google Photos activated in your device then you will have a backup copy of the corrupted photos stored in the cloud. As to the microSD card I would suggest that you replace this with a new one.
One other scenario that could occur is that you are able to view the photos stored in the microSD card without any issues using your computer. If this is the case then the problem is with the phone. To troubleshoot the phone follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step should the issue still occur. Make sure to insert the microSD card back to your phone before doing the steps listed below.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Check if the issue still occurs.
Note 4 Not Detecting microSD Card
Problem: Hi there i just bought my samsung note 4 and for some reason my 32g micro sd card will not come up on my phone and show any of my stuff. Is there any way i can fix it.
Solution: Make sure that the microSD card is inserted in the right orientation. If the card is inserted properly and the phone still can’t read it then take it out and have your computer read the card. You will need a card reader to do this. If the computer can’t read the card then it is most likely corrupt already. I suggest you get a new microSD card if this were the case.
If the computer can detect and read the microSD card then the problem is phone related. Try to backup your phone data first then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done check if the card is now detected. If it is still not detected then this could already be a hardware related issue. I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Some Files Corrupt In When copied to 128GB microSD Card
Problem: Can copy some files Ie mp4 video and jpeg photos onto a 128gb card and some are blank and unreadable and some are ok. But do the same thing on a 64gb card the device works fine.
Solution: If the issue does not occur when using a 64GB microSD card then the problem is with the 128GB microSD card. These microSD cards have a tendency to become corrupt and the 128GB card that you have may have already developed some bad sectors which is the reason why some of the video and jpeg files copied to it are blank and unreadable.
Note 4 will Not Read microSD Card
Problem: My phone and sd card have been encrypted. My phone will not read the sd card or save anything on the SD card. I see that the card has been removed both after I remove the card and turn the phone back on or when the phone is on and the sd card is removed. How do I get my phone to save things on my SD card or even just see the information on the card?
Solution: Try turning off the encryption to the microSD card and see if the issue still occurs. If it does then try using a different microSD card in your phone as the one you are using might already be defective. If the issue still occurs even after using a different microSD card then you need you need to check if a software glitch is causing this issue. To do his just backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset check if the issue still occurs.
Note 4 Can’t Copy Files To microSD Card
Problem: I have the note 4. I was using a 64gb memory card a sandisk class 10 with no problems at all. But when i upgraded to a 128gb I can’t seem to copy movies or photos back on to the card of files in general. I Thought it was a corrupt card and bought two more of different makes all good quality cards. But still no luck. I’m a tech head and know most electronics. But I have to say this problem is eluding me a bit any ideas.
Solution: Does this issue occur only when using a 128GB microSD card? Try backing up your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this could already be caused by a problem with the phone hardware. I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center to get to the bottom of this issue.
