J7 Intermittent Charging

Problem: Hello . I have a Samsung J7 2016 and the first half months of buying the phone when the I charge it it seems to keep on saying charging and discharging rapidly and repeatedly . I tried doing the thing where I lever up the port inside my phone for charging and blow it up in the port just incase there was dirt . It went okay after that . 1 year later my phone does the same problem again . This time , all the methods I did before never worked . I tried to get different chargers such as my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 but it does the same problem too . I also tried different chargers but it still charges and discharges repeatedly . Though after a whole time of plugging and unplugging and try to keep still in my place , not putting my phone down it’s seems to charge on fine again . The battery doesn’t drain too quick too . Do I need to change the battery ? Or do I need to change the port or the charger itself ?

Solution: To troubleshoot this particular issue you will need to perform the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck gets removed.
  • Charge your phone using different charging cords and wall chargers.
  • Try charging the phone from a computer USB port. If the issue does not occur then it could be caused by a faulty pin in the charging port. You will need to have this checked at a service center.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty charging port. Bring your phone to a service center and have this checked.

J7 Black Screen

Problem: My brother has the J7 and he tried to turn on his phone and the screen blinked a greenish light and shut off and I held the power button and it flashed a green light and it makes notifications noises and is just a black screen

Related Problem: i don’t know what happen when i open my samsung j7 and i thought its low battery when i charge it more than 20 minutes the i open it the screen are all black but when i powered on the device i still heard the start up sound of the samsung

Solution: Has the phone been dropped or came into contact with water? These two factors can cause this particular problem and if this is the case then the display might be damaged. If the phone has not been dropped or dipped in water then what you should do first is to simulate a battery pull which is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. The phone should restart after this. If it doesn’t then let it charge first for 20 minutes then try to turn on the phone. In case the issue remains then start the phone in recovery mode then perform a factory reset from here. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J7 Screen Is Turning On And Off

Problem: J7 screen is getting off and on continuously when opening any app, email, photos etc. I can’t able to perform any action on it. I have tried soft/hard reboot, cache clearing and all. Even though my problem not yet solved. Plzzz suggest.

Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still remains then this is most likely a hardware related problem already possibly caused by a loose connection or a faulty display. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J7 White Bar On Screen

Problem: My phone keeps doing this thing where there is a white bar at the bottom. It’ll be there for a while and then go away. But it’ll come back. I don’t know why it doing this. Please help me did fix it.

Solution: Try to check first if this problem is caused by an app you downloaded by starting the phone is Safe Mode. When the phone is started in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Does the issue occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be  caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue still persists then the phone might have a faulty display. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

J7 Turns Off Not Turning Back On Unless Plugged To Charger

Problem: My Galaxy j7 turns off prematurely with 10% battery life left. It will not turn back on until I plug it in for a recharge. As soon as I insert the charger plug the screens battery icon shows 9 or 10%.

Solution:  The best thing that you can do right now for this particular problem is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the problem still occurs. If it does then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component possibly the power IC. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

J7 Unable To Download MMS

Problem: I keep getting the message on texts (assuming from Iphone users) that Unable to download MMS (1KB).  Can you please advise as to how to fix this?  It is really annoying and am beginning to dislike that I did not go with an Iphone as this was never an issue with their phones.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to check if your phone is able to send out an MMS. If it can’t send an MMS then the problem could be caused by any of the following.

  • You don’t have an active mobile data subscription.
  • The mobile data switch of the phone is not activated.
  • The phone does not have the correct APN settings. If this is the case then make sure to change your phone settings.

If you are able to send out an MMS then proceed with the following steps. After performing each step check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed to the next step.

  • Clear the cache and data of the messaging app from the application manager.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
