J3 Randomly Restarts When Charging

Problem: Hi, When I plug my phone into charge, it will charge up to a certain point and then it must shut down because I will see it booting up on it’s own.  Then after a while, I’ll go to use it and it won’t be on.  I can’t get it to come on again unless I take it off the charger, pull the battery, replace the battery, then turn it on.  It only charges it appears to 91%. Any idea what might be causing this.  It’s really weird.  Sometimes it will shutdown and restart several times on it’s own.  I’m think when it gets to 91% it shuts down and doesn’t come back on by itself.  It will charge up to 80 something percent before shutting itself off and then on I’m thinking.  I’m at 90% right now and it’s still on. Anyway, kind of a weird problem I think. Thank you for any help you might be able to provide.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to check if a software glitch is causing this problem. To do this you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the factory reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone just yet bt instead try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then the next step is to check the phone hardware. Start by cleaning the charging port of your phone using a  can of compressed air. Once this is done replace the battery with a new one.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

J3 Restart Loop

Problem: I purchased this phone on 12/16 and it has been a great phone but now overnight the phone is turning off and on and I have taken the battery out and placing it back in and it still doesn’t work. What could be the problem?

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing this as this might be what’s causing the problem especially if it has corrupt sectors. If your phone does not have a microSD card installed or if the issue persists even after removing the card then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Check if the issue occurs when the phone is connected to its charger. If it doesn’t occur when the phone is charging then this might be caused by a faulty battery. You should try to use a new battery in your phone then check if the issue still remains.
  • Try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J3 Screen Is Black

Problem: I have had the J3 for about 1 year and has worked good but Friday I took it out and the screen was black all but about half inch at top and then went black all together and have tried all the reboot you have said still nothing have charged over night can you give me some help please

Solution: Have you tried starting the phone in recovery mode? If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by a software glitch. You will then need to perform a factory reset in this mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. In case the issue still occurs even in recovery mode then the display might be damaged. You will need to have the display checked and possibly replaced at a service center.

J3 Stuck In Boot Logo Screen

Problem: My husband recently exposed his phone to water (he went knee deep into a lake forgetting his phone was in his pocket). He said that after putting it in a bag of rice, it had turned on and stayed on for him to use as an alarm. However, the next day he left it in and hot car and now it gets stuck on the logo screen. I tried a hard and soft reset but the same logo screen doesn’t budge at all. Is there an easy solution to this? Or should I get a professional to look at it?

Solution: If the phone has a microSD card installed then remove it first before performing the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Remove the battery then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear the RAM. Reinsert the battery then try to turn on the phone.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. Restart your phone.
  • Try doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this might already be a hardware related problem.

J3 Google App Has Stopped Working

Problem: Everytime I switch the phone on, or even swipe the screen to turn on I get the error message below. when I press OK it comes back with Unfortunately, Google App has stopped. No matter what I do it keeps coming back. I have tried to delete a few Apps that I have downloaded but the error message comes back preventing me from doing this.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to clear the cache and data of the Google App from the application manager. Once this is done restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

J3 Has Black Screen After Phone Got Dropped

Problem: I dropped my phone and now have a black screen. I know the phone is on, I am still receiving notification sounds, but can’t see anything. I have tried turning it off and back on by removing the battery. It vibrates that it is on and I can hear it change screens when I push buttons.. I went to the Verizon office and the salesperson told me that my phone was dead and I had to get a new one. Is there any  way to recover my data, photos, etc? BTW, in my despair I purchased recovery software (FoneLab) only to find out that they do not support my phone.

Solution: It’s very likely that the display has been damaged by the drop. You can check on this further by starting your phone in recovery mode. If the display works in this mode then the problem could just be caused by a software glitch in which case you will need to do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

In case the screen is still black even in recovery mode then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have the display replaced.
