Samsung Galaxy A5 Failed To Obtain IP Address When Connecting To Home Wi-Fi

Problem: Hello. I have s Samsung Galaxy A6 and all has been fine then suddenly I have had issues connecting to my home broadband. All other devices connect, tablets, tv etc but on my phone it says failed to obtain IP address. I did some Google searches and have done the following- changed the connection to static amended the IP address forgot the network rejoined the network Deleted all network history Turned the router off Reset the router to factory settings Stood next to the router and tried to connect Changed the time and date on my phone Ran a virus check Ran a Wi-Fi diagnosis app (which obvs wouldn’t work without wifi) Checked for software updates but everything is updated. Nothing has worked. I did manage to move on from failed to obtain IP address to connected, no internet but this still doesn’t let me access anything on my mobile. It’s really frustrating that everyone’s suggestions have been successful to so many with this issue except for my mobile! Thank you so much for any help.

Solution: Does the same issue occur when the phone connect to other Wi-Fi networks? Because if it does then I would suggest you perform the following steps listed below.

  • Check if the same issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t occur then the problem is most likely caused by an app you downloaded to the device. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once this is done try to connect to the Wi-Fi network again.

If the issue only occur on your home Wi-Fi network and you have already factory reset your home Wi-Fi router then I recommend that you do a factory reset on your phone. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this step.

In case the issue persists then I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

Samsung Galaxy A5 Wi-Fi Randomly Disconnects

Problem: Have a Samsung A5.  Appears that after my last update in December 2017, I lose and gain my home wifi connection.  I put my phone on a wireless charger and you will sometimes notice the wifi icon disappear.  I then go to the pull down menu and turn off and then turn on the wifi icon.  A few seconds later, the dialog box will indicate my home wifi has re-engaged.  My wife’s S6 also does the same thing.  I haven’t tried to check out another wifi source but my wife claims that she has no problem with the wifi in a different location.  When I check through the settings icon, the wifi status, it indicates that the home wifi is still on and strong at the same time my phone wifi indicates its disconnected.  Can you help?  I have received the latest January 2018 updates downloaded.

Solution: To fix this problem try forgetting the Wi-Fi connection from your phone then connect to it again. In case the issue still occurs after this then this could already be caused by some old software data that has not been completely removed during the software update process. The best thing to do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Samsung Galaxy A5 Loses Wi-Fi Connectivity

Problem: I am using a Samsung galaxy A5 2016.my phone loses it’s WiFi connectivity during usage, again once I reconnect again the same happens. I had done a hard reset, seems still the problem persistent. Do help me with the issue

Solution: After performing the factory reset have you tried checking if the same issue occurs when your phone is connected to a different Wi-Fi network? If it doesn’t then the problem could be with the router your phone is connecting to.

In case the issue persists then you will need to have this checked at a service center.
