Confirm wifi is working

When troubleshooting whatever wifi issue, the first thing that you can do is to ensure that wifi works. You don’t want to be doing troubleshooting on your S10 without first verifying if it’s a wifi issue. If you have other wireless devices using the same wifi, try to check if the same problem occur on them. If these other devices experience the same wifi trouble, you can bet it’s a problem with the router or with your Internet Service Provider (ISP). To troubleshoot the problem, you need to contact your ISP.

Another way to determine if it’s a wifi issue is by connecting your S10 to other wifi networks. If it works on other wifi, that should tell you that you own wifi has issues. Again, you want to get support from your ISP to identify where the problem is coming from.

Powercycle networking equipment

Another important troubleshooting step to do when faced with a wifi problem is to restart all network devices, a process called network powercycle. What you want to do exactly is to simply shut down the (modem, if you’re using one), router, and other devices in the network for a few moments. Once the devices have been turned off, wait for at least 10 seconds before booting them back. Make sure to turn on the devices sequentially. So, if you have a modem in the setup, turn it on first, followed by the router.

Forced restart

Once you’ve sequentially rebooted your network equipment, make sure to also restart your Galaxy S10. This has been an effective way to fix wifi issue that show wifi is connected by there’s no internet.

To force restart your device:

  1. Press and hold the Power + Volume Down buttons for approximately 12 seconds or until the device power cycles. Note: Allow several seconds for the Maintenance Boot Mode screen to appear.
  2. From the Maintenance Boot Mode screen, select Normal Boot. Note: Utilize the volume buttons to cycle through the available options and the lower left button (below the volume buttons) to select. Allow up to 90 seconds for the reset to complete.
  3. If Maintenance Boot Mode screen won’t show, then your device does not have it. Simply wait for the device to power down completely.

Forget wifi

Another basic troubleshooting step that you can do in this case is to forget your wifi. This has proven effective in fixing troubles with wifi. What it does is refresh the wifi credentials saved on your phone. By disconnecting your wifi, you are forcing the device to save updated wifi username, password, and configuration.

In order to forget your wifi network:

  1. Pull down the notification bar from the top of the screen.
  2. Tap and hold the wifi icon.
  3. Tap the name of your wifi network (the one you’re having a problem with).
  4. Tap FORGET button.
  5. Restart your phone.
  6. Reconnect to your wifi and see it it’s working now.

Install updates

If your Galaxy S10 still shows wifi connected but no internet still, then the next step for you is to ensure that the software and all apps are running their latest versions. Some bugs can only be fixed by changing some codes, either in the software or app. By default, your Galaxy S10 should download and install updates on its own.   1. Boot to safe mode.

Method 2: How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy S10 using hardware buttons

If your case is that the phone is not booting up, or it boots but Settings menu is inaccessible, this method can be helpful. First, you need to boot the device to Recovery Mode. Once you successfully access Recovery, that’s the time that you begin proper master reset procedure. It may take some tries for you before you can access Recovery so be patient and simply try again.

  1. If possible, create a backup of your personal data ahead of time. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
  2. Also, you want to make sure that you remove your Google account. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
  3. Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you’ll never be able to boot to Recovery Mode. If you are not able to shut the device off regularly via the Power button, wait until the phone’s battery is drained. Then, charge the phone for 30 minutes before booting to Recovery Mode.
  4. Press and hold the Volume Up button and the Bixby button at the same time.
  5. While still holding the Volume Up and Bixby keys, press and hold the Power button.
  6. The Recovery screen menu will now appear. When you see this, release the buttons.
  7. Use the Volume Down button until you are highlighting ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
  8. Press the Power button to select ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
  9. Use Volume Down to highlight Yes.
  10. Press the Power button to confirm factory reset.
