What causes error 2813-0998 on Nintendo Switch?

This error generally shows up when trying to access the Nintendo eShop on Switch. It’s an indication that your Nintendo account is trying to access eShop in a region where it’s not available. There’s only a limited number of countries per region with access to Nintendo eShop.

What to do to fix Nintendo Switch Error Code 2813-0998?

The fix for Nintendo Switch error 2813-0998 is simple. All you have to do is to update your Nintendo account by selecting a country that supports eShop like the United States or Japan. You’ll need a second device like a smartphone or computer with internet access in order to do the update.

How to update your Nintendo account region

You can learn how to update your account by following the steps below.

  1. Log into your account.

    On your computer or smartphone, visit accounts.nintendo.com and make sure to sign in to your Nintendo account.account sign in

  2. Edit your account.

    Once you’re signed in, select the Edit button in Profile section and in Country/region of residence, select a country such as the United States where Nintendo eShop is available.region

  3. Save the changes.

    After selecting the country, make sure to click on Save changes button.save changes

  4. Restart your Nintendo Switch.

    Press and hold the POWER button at the top of the console for about 3 seconds. Then, select Power Options>Turn Off.Power button

  5. Log back in to your account.

    Turn the console back on and re-enter your account credentials.

There are times when an error like 2124-8006 may show up when trying to sign back in. If that happens, you may need to troubleshoot your internet connection or, in may case, manually change the DNS settings.
