Motorola Returns to the Flagship Market With the Edge and Edge+ 5G

  • Motorola has announced the Verizon-exclusive Edge+ 5G today with a price tag of $999.99.
  • This was accompanied by the entry-level Motorola Edge which will be available unlocked later this year.
  • The 5G Edge+ will be available on Verizon starting May 14.

Just as leaks suggested a few days ago, Motorola has now announced the Edge and the Edge+. While the former will be available unlocked through various channels, the Edge+ 5G will be a Verizon exclusive in the U.S.

As you expected, one of the most talked-about features on the two smartphones are the waterfall display with curved edges, giving it a distinct look compared to the phones currently available in the market. The two phones also come with dedicated headphone jacks, which is a rarity for the mobile industry.

The Edge+ also comes with a superior camera layout on the back, consisting of a 108MP primary sensor, making it one of the first real contenders to the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. It will cost $999.99 when it reaches Verizon’s shelves, putting it between attractive phones like the galaxy s20 and practically any other 5G flagship available in the market.

While both phones come with 5G capabilities, the Edge+ uses Qualcomm’s flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 865, while the standard Edge sticks to the Snapdragon 765 chipset which will also feature on multiple mid-range smartphones in 2024.
