LG V20 Battery Is Draining Fast

Problem: Hi, I have an issue with LGV20. The battery is draining quite fast although the phone is on standby and nothing is running in the background. Bluetooth, Wifi, GPS, and all other options are disabled. I charged the phone to 100% and turn the airplane mode, it lost 3% within 24 hours. Can you help me?

Related Problem: My new battery for V20 was fully charging to 100% only for a few days. Than it was charging only to 98%, in couple weeks only to 96%. Now 6 months later it charges only to 62% and drains very fast. Do I need to change the battery again? Why 2nd battery is behaving so strangely?

Solution: A 3% battery loss in 24 hours is actually not that bad if it is in airplane mode. However, if you notice that the battery is draining faster than it normally should the you should proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • In case the issue still occurs in Safe Mode then you should try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone. Try checking if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider getting a new battery for your phone.

LG V20 Does Not Hold Charge

Problem: my phone wont hold a charge. i troubleshot  it and when you plug it in it stays on for 12 sec turns off for 7 sec. it does this every time please help me. it a new phone and i can’t afford to buy another one

Solution: The quickest way to fix this problem is to first check if the issue is caused by a faulty battery. Get a new battery then check if the phone still turns off. If it does then you should attempt to perform a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the issue persists then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. You will have to bring this to a service center and have it checked.

LG V20 Has Difficulty Charging

Problem: My LG V20 was sometimes difficult to start charging, ie had to ensure cable was in fully when inserted into device. Battery drained quickly. But been like that for over a year….still reliable. Put on charge as went to bed, no apps were running. But in morning the  start up screen was showing and frozen, I plugged charger in and green battery icon came on. I looked up advice on Google, and followed actions …. whilst charging remove battery and press the power on button 20 secs, no joy then increased to 2 minutes… After the first attempt and since, there is nothing at all, the screen is black, the battery charger brings no icon on screen, no lights are on the device whatsoever. I do not know whether buying a new battery will help, am so green when it comes to this kind of thing, please can you help? I am lost without my phone!

Solution: You should definitely try getting a new battery for your phone as the one it has right now could be faulty already. In case the issue persists even with a new battery then you should proceed with a factory reset to check if this is caused by a software glitch. Do the reset from the recovery mode. If you are able to backup your phone data before doing the reset then do so as it will be deleted in the process.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
