LG G6 Messaging App Keep Crashing

Problem: Hi, I read an article in your website about LG G5 Messaging app crashing and i have a similar problem, except i have an LG G6 and i have several apps crashing including the Messaging app. I followed the first 3 steps and it didn’t solve the problem and before i performed the factory reset i wanted to make sure that this is the same issue as G5 or i can try other solutions.

Solution: Troubleshooting the LG G6 is quite similar to the LG G5. If you have already performed most of the preliminary troubleshooting steps for the crashing issue of your phone and the issue still remains then you should consider doing a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data so its best to make a backup copy of your phone data before doing this. If your phone has a microSD card installed you should also try removing this first as this might be causing the problem.

LG G6 Takes Too Long to Send Text Message

Problem: I’m a novice user (50ish female, but I’m sure there are other really tech savvy 50-ish females who can do this stuff just fine).  Had a flip phone until about a month ago (didn’t have many functions but it never failed me), then inherited a LG G6.  Previous owner swears they weren’t having any issues with it and it worked great for the first few weeks.  The last 10-days or so, my texts take 2 hours to send, fails when trying to send a photo by email, it also won’t connect to my computer with the cord anymore (that could be a separate problem-I’ve tried downloading drivers to no avail).   I’m in way over my head.  Perhaps I need to go to the mall and find a teenager (if that didn’t sound really creepy).  I’ve looked through your solutions page and it’s gobbledygook.  I had to google how to start in safe mode and then when I tried to do that I got some sort of message about messing with the OS system. How do I know which apps are important?  How do I know which ones can’t be removed? Can you provide assistance?

Solution: Generally, you won’t be able to uninstall apps that came pre-installed with the phone. Apps that you downloaded yourself can be uninstalled so this is where you will be starting.

To start your phone in Safe Mode just follow the steps listed below.

  • With the phone on, press and hold the Power key.
  • In the options menu that displays, press and hold Power off.
  • When ‘Restart in Safe mode’ displays, tap OK to restart in Safe mode.
  • When the phone restarts the device displays ‘Safe mode’ at bottom of screen.

Try to observe first if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then an app you downloaded could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This will allow you to eliminate any software issues that could be causing the problem.

Regarding the issue of your phone not connecting to the computer you should try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air then use a different USB cord to connect the phone to your computer.

LG G6 Text Message Received Is Out Of Order

Problem: When I receive a lengthy text (that fills more than 1 “text bubble”), the text bubbles arrive out of order and in random order. How do I fix this?

Solution: For this particular issue you will need to clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager. You should also set the phone to acquire the date and time automatically from the network.

LG G6 Randomly Sending MMS To Contacts

Problem: Hello, my phone has been sending MMS to some contacts which I have not sent. I have no idea how many ppl have been sent these 1KB MMS messages and am not sure if I should factory reset my phone or try to download an antivirus (or if it’s too late). There are no other obvious problems with my phone. Could this be from an app? Or could this be from browsing web pages (certain sites will have a pop-up that looks suspiciously like a virus, which I never click). Thank you for your help.

Solution: If you did not send the MMS then I highly recommend doing a factory reset to fix the problem. This allows you to secure your phone from any malware. Make sure to backup your phone before doing the reset.
