LG G5 Restarts Randomly

Problem: My lg g5 used to restart and some time got off. I tried many attempt to boot it but failed, then I inserted the battery after removal and tried to reboot, success after many attempts. Again restarts automatically. I reset it with factory reset but no solution. It don’t respond to any key and some time it respond. Please guide me what is the problem.

Solution: Since you have already tried a factory reset then this might already be a hardware related problem. Try replacing the battery with a new one. If the issue persists after this then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as its power IC could be faulty.

LG G5 Drains Battery Fast

Problem: Hi, hope you are well. My LG G5 suddenly drained its battery almost 75% in an hour. i tried killing any apps that may have caused it and restarted my phone to see if that would help. I haven’t downloaded any apps lately so i don’t know what could have caused this. Do you know what the issue may be? many thanks

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to check if an app you installed is causing the problem. Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the battery drain issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the problem occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in your phone yet. You should also remove the microSD card if the phone has one installed. Try checking if the issue still occurs.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then the battery of the phone might be faulty already. You should try replacing this with a new one.

LG G5 Disconnects From Wi-Fi Then Forgets Password

Problem: Phone will disconnect from my wi fi and ask for the password over and over it finally will obtain an IP but l within a few hour it happens again and ask for the password even though it saved it. It does not happen with my other phone or devices. Verizon passwords are not user friendly and very very long this has become a big problem and start about a month after the phone had a big update.

Solution: What you should do first in this case is to forget the Wi-Fi network from your phone.

  • Browse to the Network connections section and then tap Wi-Fi.
  • If Wi-Fi is off, select the ON/OFF switch to turn it on.
  • Select the required Wi-Fi network profile you want to forget and select Forget
  • The selected Wi-Fi network profile has been forgotten.

Once this is done connect to the wi-Fi network again then check if you still experience the same problem.

If the issue persists then I recommend that you do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

LG G5 Gets Warm When Charging Then Discharges

Problem: First of all, thanks for your help. I’m getting problems with my LG G5 latest update not Nougat. I’ve already done a hard reset without success. Installed apps are the usual ones, Whatsapp, Google docs, calendar, clock, amazon app and little more. The problem is that, when charging (with different chargers), SOMETIMES. the phone gets warm and instead of charging, it discharges!. I assume it is some app that kicks in when charging but I have no clue. Right now, I’m connected to my monitor usb (slow charge), tested with different usb modes, reset the phone and it continues warm and discharging. When disconnected it enters in deep sleep mode and it gets cold. I’ve connected it again (without resetting) and now it is charging and cold. I’m puzzled. My only option is to hard reset and test 1 app a day to see if it happens again, but it is the business phone so I ask you, any ideas?

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to check if external factors are involved in this issue. Try cleaning the charging port of the phone first using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Charge your phone using a different charging port and wall charger.

If the issue persists then it is time to check if an app you installed is causing the problem. Start your phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Another troubleshooting step you can do is to check if the issue is caused by a software glitch. To do this you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider replacing the battery of your phone as it might be faulty already.

LG G5 Loose Charging Port

Problem: Hello, I own an LG G5, which I’ve had since May, 2016. For the last three months, the charger will not stay seated properly. If you barely touch it, it pops out of the phone. Over the last few weeks, it’s started doing the “Slow Charge.” The phone still charges, but it’s really inconvenient. I ordered a replacement bottom piece of the phone (the compartment with the USB-C charging board inside), but when I tried turning it on, the phone actually told me to replace that part with an approved LG component to be able to turn it on. Do you have any solutions? I do know how to solder, and I’m curious as to whether or not desoldering the current USB-C port and replacing it with the new USB-C port, but leaving everything else the same, will actually work? Thank you.

Solution: Have you tried using a different charging cord when charging the phone? Sometimes a faulty cord can cause this type of problem. In case you already have and the charger is still loose then I recommend that you have this properly fixed at a service center.

LG G5 Unable To Receive Text From One Contact

Problem: I have an LG G5 and I am able to receive texts from non-LG G5 users but my can’t from my wife, who has an LG G5.  The LG Messaging app was crashing before, so I deleted a bunch of old messages and it seems like the problem has happened since then.  Not sure if it has anything to do with it or not, but would like some advice. I deleted the conversation with her and deleted her from my contacts, shut down the phone, powered it back up and added her again as a contact and text her.  I am still unable to receive texts.  Please help. Thanks

Solution: Try checking if you have blocked your wife’s number by registering it as a spam number.

To register a contact as a spam number

  • From the Messaging app, tap the desired text or picture message.
  • Tap the Menu icon > Register spam number.
  • Check or uncheck ‘Delete all messages of the selected number.’
  • Select NO or YES to confirm.
  • Your selected number is now registered as spam.

To unregister the contact as a spam number

  • From any home screen, tap Messaging.
  • Tap Menu> Spam manager.
  • Tap Spam settings.
  • Tap Spam numbers.
  • Tap the trash can.
  • Tap to select the numbers you wish to unblock.
  • Tap DELETE, then tap YES.

In case the number is not being blocked then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

LG G5 Notification Sound Is Not Working

Problem: I have an LG G5 and this is my 2nd unit but with the same problem. Notification sound is not working. I can receive email, text, call, etc but without the sound. If i reboot the system sound will come back but before the end of the day problem will occur again. Here are the steps i already did. I checked the settings and everything’s activated. Settings is not an issue. I factory reset the phone twice but the problem will come back maybe after a day or two. LG product specialist advised me to do a safe mode but instead i uninstalled all the 3rd party apps i installed but not the fb messenger and viber. If these two apps causes the problem then this phone is not suitable for me. You cannot chat with facebook without installing the fb messenger. I will be sending my phone to LG for a repair but i don’t feel good because the phone is not even a month old but unfortunately my carrier Fido only gave us 15 days to return a handset.

Solution: Since you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still occurs then one last troubleshooting step that you can do is to check if the phone is running on the latest software update.  If it already is then this is most likely a hardware related issue already in which case you will need to have the phone repaired.

LG G5 Only Charges After Restart

Problem: Hi. About 3 wks ago my G5 stopped being able to charge my phone without first restarting it. I didn’t notice at first. I would plug it in and go to bed and it would be dead in the morning b/c it wasn’t charging. I then restarted it and noticed it would connect after a restart. There is also an option that pops up now with a USB connection sign that asks me what I want to charge with the port. It disappears quickly and I can’t find the setting when I try to look it up in the phone. Verizon was NO help and seriously just offered me the option of buying a new phone. I have insurance but you end up with a refurbished phone and I don’t want that yet. It does charge but now only after a restart. Super weird and started out of nowhere. Any suggestions or is this a hardware glitch?

Solution: to check if this issue is caused by a software glitch I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete check if the issue still occurs. If it does then try getting a new battery.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might be caused by a hardware component that is failing to work properly. You need to have this checked at a service center.
