LG G5 Fingerprint Scanner Not Working After Software Update

Problem: A few weeks ago I updated my phone to nougat and since then I have had issues with the fingerprint scanner and waking the phone. Now the fingerprint scanner doesn’t work at all and I can not shut down the phone.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to erase the stored fingerprint data in your phone then set it up again.

  • From  the Home screen navigate to Settings then to Lock screen.
  • Tap Select screen lock.
  • Tap Fingerprints.
  • Touch and hold the fingerprint you wish to remove.
  • Tap the Delete icon
  • Tap DELETE to confirm.

Once all fingerprints are deleted proceed with the fingerprint recognition setup.

  • From  the Home screen navigate to Settings then to Lock screen.
  • Tap Select screen lock.
  • Tap Fingerprints.
  • Review instructions, then tap NEXT.
  • Using the on-screen prompts as a guide, lightly tap the Power button multiple times to scan your fingerprint.
  • When finished, tap OK if finished or ADD MORE to continue adding fingerprints.

If the issue still persists after this then the next step is to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. For this you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset you will have to set up your phone again.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G5 Charging Port Broken

Problem: The charging port broke so I bought a new battery and bottom piece (module) when I put it in my phone it says to put a compatible module to start phone, what can I do?

Solution: It looks like some other component aside from the charging port got broken. If the battery and bottom module that you bought is tested to work on another device then you will have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G5 Wi-Fi Switch Is Greyed Out

Problem: The WiFi functionality is grayed out and states “WiFi not allowed”. I have attempted every fix including a factory reset. The WiFi was working the morning of 18/06/17 and stopped the afternoon the same day. I have sent it to the provider for repair who want £250 to even look at it because of minor damage invalidating warranty. Help

Solution: If you already performed a factory reset and the issue still occurs then this problem is most likely caused by a damaged Wi-Fi chip. The only way to get this fixed is at a service center since they will have the correct tools to replace this chip.

LG G5 Not Charging

Problem: My wife just got a new LG G5 phone (May 2017). It does not charge from all outlets, some work, others do not, so the problem is not the cable (same cable) and can’t be the port. My only guess is that there may be subtle differences in the amps from different outlets and it is sensitive to that. We’re taking it back to the Verizon store to talk with a technician, fingers crossed we get some resolution. (not sure of the Android version). Any thoughts most welcome.

Solution: I’d recommend that you try using a different charging cord and wall charger then check if the same issue occurs. If it doesn’t then the problem could either be caused by the cord or charger that you are using.

In case the issue persists then try checking simulating the problem using another device. Charge this device to the various outlets that you are using. If this other device does not experience the same problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G5 No SIM Card Error

Problem: I bought an unlocked LG G5, I bought it because it’s amazing power and because it supports all major carriers in the United States. However , once I unlocked it I could no longer choose my preferred network and once I inserted my SIM card it says there is no SIM card and typically it does not have any signal at all. I have called Sprint multiple times and received no help and they recommend that I go to their nearest store and they denied helping me with their mistake. What can I do?

Solution: Try using a different SIM card in your phone making sure that this other SIM card works on another device. This way you can check if the SIM card you have is causing the problem.  In case the issue still persists then backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete immediately check if you are still experiencing the same issue.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G5 High Temperature Detected When Charging

Problem: my lg g5 is not charging correctly its is saying when I turn it on while charging its saying “high temperature detected turning off” and when it’s charging it will reach 3% and says ” phone temperature is too high or low move to another place” please please please help me

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to check if an app you installed is causing the problem. To do this just start the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then you will have to find out what app is causing the problem then uninstall it.

In case the problem occurs in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the problem still occurs. If it does then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Try charging the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Try using a different battery.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G5 Not Charging Stuck In Bootloop

Problem: I received the phone with 17% charge and tried to use it. It had a weird crash on lockscreen so I decided to factory reset it. I go into the settings, but it says it needs at least 30% charge to reformat. So I go to plug it in and it would crash and enter a bootloop. I used the stock LG charger and all tons of other 3rd party ones and they didn’t work. I am not sure if something is wrong the hardware of the phone or the battery is screwed up. I would also like to point out it heat up mildly hot before it crashed.

Solution: Try taking out the battery and microSD card of the phone ( if you have one installed). Press and hold the power button for at least a minute then reinsert the battery. Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air then once this is done try charging the phone. If it doesn’t charge then try using a getting a new battery. With a new battery installed you will be able to perform a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
