In the market for the best Google Assistant speaker? Don’t like what’s offered in the Google Home or Google Home Hub? Then you might want to check out what JBL and Lenovo are offering in the Link View and Smart Display, respectively. These Google Assistant speakers are designed to provide you the traditional smart home speaker experience and provide you with an advanced display so that you can do and see more (i.e. casual FaceTime calls or seeing what the security camera feed looks like).

Both the JBL Link View and Lenovo Smart Display are excellent Google Assistant speakers, so which one should you pick up? Follow along below, and we’ll show you the pros and cons to both speakers.
As you might imagine, the JBL Link View has Google Assistant built-in. That means, after you initially set it up, you can ask it to do almost anything, such as “Hey Google, how’s the weather?” or “Hey Google, what’s coming up next on my calendar?” There are countless commands that you can give it, but what’s unique about the JBL Link View is that it has an 8-inch touchscreen display equipped on it.
Having a display like this can open up a bunch of other commands and abilities that weren’t before possible in regular smart home speakers. Now, you can ask Google to connect you up with someone over your favorite video calling software. Or, you can tell Google to pull up a feed of the baby monitor on the screen. You could even open up YouTube and start watching a video for a recipe that you’re trying to master!
Believe it or not, you could even play a movie on the JBL Link View if you wanted! Overall, it’s an excellent Google Assistant speaker that will provide you more functionality than a traditional smart home speaker ever could.

Lenovo Smart Display
The Lenovo Smart Display is next up on our list, and it’s probably one of the more sought after Smart Displays out there. Similar to the JBL Link View, the Lenovo Smart Display has an 8-inch screen with touch capabilities. That said, you get access to a whole host of features that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to use without that screen — this includes things like tuning into video feeds around your home, making video calls with friends, watching a YouTube video while cooking, or even playing a movie.
Since the Lenovo Smart Display has Google Assistant built-in, you’ll be able to do all of the neat things that it allows you to do. You’ll be able to ask Google how the weather is, what’s coming up on your calendar, and so much more. You can use the smart speaker to control over 1,500 other compatible smart home devices as well.
One of the unique things about the Lenovo Smart Display is that the product has excellent speakers inside of it. That said, it shouldn’t have a problem hearing you when you say “Hey Google, can you do x?” Not only that, but you should be able to hear friends and family over video call or phone with crystal clear audio.
As you can see, both the JBL Link View and Lenovo Smart Display are very similar in nature, and are actually offered at a similar price point. That makes the decision just a little more difficult for folks that don’t know how to decide between the two.
That said, we do have to say that the Lenovo Smart Display has one advantage over the JBL Link View: an excellent speaker. Suffice to say, you might get a little better audio out of the Lenovo Smart Display than you would with the JBL Link View. Not only that, but the support to control up to 1,500 different smart home products makes the Smart Display by Lenovo just a tad bit more versatile than other options on the market.
Google Assistant speakers are an awesome device to keep around in the home, especially if you choose one with a display. They make it so easy to accomplish menial tasks, like figuring out what the weather is like for a potential date, or for making that important video call to a friend or family member.
