Huawei Expecting to Ship 270 Million Phones Before the End in 2024

The recent trade dispute between U.S. and China was expected to significantly impact smartphone manufacturer Huawei’s business in the mobile industry. However, as per figures posted by the company recently, it has managed to ship 200 million smartphones in 2024 already. Interestingly, the company reached this feat 64 days sooner than it did in 2018. The company has now announced that it expects to ship nearly 270 million smartphones before the end of the year.

The company founder Ren Zhengfei gave out the information while speaking to the media. This figure of 270 million units appears to contradict expert estimates that predicted sales of 250 million units by the end of 2020. Huawei still has some catching up to do before becoming the number one manufacturer in the world as Samsung still leads the pack. The South Korean manufacturer is reported to have shipped 290 million devices in 2018. The company has projected strong sales in the mid-range segment over the past two financial quarters and is expected to post decent figures by the end of 2020.

Huawei’s feat, however, is far more impressive given that it cannot officially use Google’s Android software on its smartphones. The company has a backup plan and is currently using its own custom ROM to power its devices. While the phones won’t have the Gmail app or the Play Store, it utilizes Huawei’s own software to provide users with the best experience possible. Huawei devices are currently not sold (officially) in the U.S., although customers can scour through Amazon to find one of its newest flagships at throwaway prices.
