How to reset a frozen Galaxy S10 Plus [Troubleshooting Guide]

Easy ways to reset a frozen Galaxy S10 Plus
Let’s get real first. Most of the time, we can fix problems like this as long as the phone doesn’t have any signs of physical or liquid damage and that the firmware hasn’t been modified in any way. With these conditions, we can almost be sure it’s just a minor issue, however, if the problem continues even after this, then that’s the time you have to bring the phone back to the store or shop so that a technician can check it for you. Here’s the thing, you can only do so much when the phone is not responding and we really don’t suggest to pop open the device because the warranty will automatically be voided. Besides, there’s no guarantee that you could make your frozen Galaxy S10 Plus respond again by opening it and tinkering some of its hardware components.

First solution: Forced restart
It is a simulated battery removal procedure that has been proven to be effective in fixing problems like this. Most of the time a frozen phone could be just a result of firmware crash. That’s right, a system crash can make your phone unresponsive and while it may seem like a serious hardware issue, it’s just a minor firmware problem. To fix it, try this:
- Press and hold the Volume Down and Power keys at the same time for 15 seconds or more.
If your phone slightly vibrates and then boots up, then problem solved! That’s all you need to do to make your frozen Galaxy S10 Plus respond again. Try doing the same procedure if it continues to be unresponsive after the first try. After a few tries and your phone is still frozen or not responding, then try this…
- Press and hold the volume down button and don’t release it.
- While holding down the volume button, press and hold the power key as well.
- Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or more.
It’s basically the same as the first procedure only that we’re making sure this time that the power key is pressed and held after the volume down button because if you pressed it before the volume button, you may not have the same result.

Second solution: Charge and perform Forced restart
Having a drained battery isn’t really a problem but there are times when a simple issue like this can cause the firmware to crash. When that happens, you’ll be dealing with a couple of issues that both result to a frozen Galaxy S10 Plus. but don’t worry, you can always fix it by doing the following:
- Plug the original charger to a working wall outlet. It’s best to use a wired charger for this.
- Connect your phone to its charger using the original cable.
- Regardless whether your phone show the charging symbol or not, leave it connected to the charger for at least 10 minutes.
- After which, press and hold the volume down button and the power key for 15 seconds or more.
If the problem is just due to a firmware crash just like what usually is, then your phone should already be booting up by now.
