How to remove or hide the notch on OnePlus 6
There’s been a number of growing list of new smartphones that features a “notch” on them. For those who don’t know what a notch is, it is the black box on the top part of the screen that houses the front-facing camera and other sensors. First introduced by Apple on its iPhone X and later devices, the notch has been adopted by Android makers.
While it’s technically not giving a problem for many, some may find it distracting. For some, it’s a waste of screen real estate as it occupies a sizeable amount of space to enlarge the screen further. If you don’t want to see the notch on your OnePlus 6, follow the steps below to hide it.
How to remove or hide the notch on OnePlus 6
- Open Settings app.
- Scroll up to the Device sub-menu.
- Tap Display.
- Select Notch display.
- Tap Hide the notch area.
- You’ll now see black bars on both sides of the notch.

Exposing the device to strong light in a certain angle may still show the cutout but there’s nothing that you can do about it at this point. The notch is a hardware design and so it can’t be totally removed or its shadow eliminated. The most that you can do at this time is to simply ignore the traces of the cutout even if it still distracts you.
