How to hard reset your Galaxy A3 using hardware buttons

- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Samsung logo screen displays, release only the Power key
- When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).

If you want to erase your device because it’s lost or stolen, this is also doable. You can perform the hard reset using Find My Mobile and Google Find My Device. Unlike the usual hard reset which allow you to erase the device by accessing the settings menu and/or pressing the hardware buttons (such as the Volume Up, Home, and the Power key), this can be done remotely using a different device. Thus, these methods will require you to log in to your Gmail account while the device is resetting. Doing so will prevent other person to access your accounts nor use the device.
Factory Reset using Find My Mobile:
You can only utilize this method if your Samsung Account is currently logged into your device. Being said, you need to have your Samsung credentials on hand.
- On a computer (or any devices), log in to https://findmymobile.samsung.com using your Samsung Account ID and password.
- Select the name of your Device. This is usually located from the menu on the left.
- Then select Erase Data.
- If prompted, select Erase to confirm and enter your Samsung account password.
However, if you can’t use the Find My Mobile service because you don’t know have your Samsung account information, you can still do the reset using Google Find My Device. You just need to have your Gmail email address and password, then follow the provided steps below:
- Open https://www.google.com/android/find and log in using your Gmail ID and password.
- Select the name of your Device.
- Select Erase Device.
- If prompted, select Erase Device to confirm.
- Then enter your Google account password to confirm the reset.
