How To Fix The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G Won’t Connect To Wi-Fi

It’s best to make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version before doing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first. This will at least minimize the possibility of the problem being caused by an outdated software version.

Turn on the Wi-Fi switch of the phone

Your phone has a Wi-Fi switch found in its settings which has to be turned on before the device can connect to a Wi-Fi network. Make sure that this switch is on.

  • From the Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connections tab.
  • Tap the Wi-Fi Switch to On

Make sure that the router is working

Sometimes the problem is not caused by your phone but by the router your phone is connected to. What you will need to do in this case is to verify if the problem is caused by your router. Can other devices connect to the router and go online successfully? Does the router have a setting activated ( try checking the MAC filtering setting) that is blocking your phone from connecting to it? One quick way to check if this is a router related issue is to try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a soft reset

There are instances when a corrupted temporary data can cause this problem. To eliminate this corrupted data you will have to restart your phone.

  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Reset the phone network settings

  • Stored Wi-Fi networks will be deleted.
  • Paired Bluetooth devices will be deleted.
  • Background data sync settings will be turned on.
  • Data restrictive settings in applications that were manually turned on/off by the customer will be reset to the default setting.
  • Network selection mode will be set to automatic.

To reset the network settings of your device:

  • From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  • Tap Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset settings.
  • Tap RESET SETTINGS.
  • If you have set up a PIN, enter it.
  • Tap RESET SETTINGS.
  • The device will restart to perform the reset of settings

Start the phone in Safe Mode

There’s a possibility that you might have downloaded an app from the Google Play Store that is causing this problem. This can be because of bugs in the app or compatibility issues between the app and your phone. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
  • When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  • Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  • When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.

In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

There are cases when the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
  • When the Android logo displays, release both keys.
  • An ‘Installing system update’ message will show for 30 – 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
  • Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  • Press Bixby / Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Bixby / Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  • Press the Bixby / Power key to restart the device.

Perform a factory reset

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then chances are this is caused by a software glitch. The best way to deal with this right now is to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

  • Back up data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Samsung account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Samsung credentials to finish the master reset.
  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
  • When the green Android logo displays, release both keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  • Press Bixby / Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Bixby / Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Bixby / Power key to restart the device.

If the issue still persists even after performing the steps listed above then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
